Gambit is dead in the water again, as it's third director, Gore Verbinksi, has officially left the project. Fox has also announced that they're moving Deadpool 2 up two weeks to a week before Solo, instead of a week after. Weird move since that also makes it still compete with not only a Star Wars movie, but Marvel's 800lbs gorilla that is Avengers: Infinity War's third week in theaters. Also moving is New Mutants, from 13April2018 to 22February2019 because it "wasn't scary enough" to test audiences.

There's also an image that Sony is saying is the first look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in Venom, but I'm not going to post it because it's literally just Tom Hardy. The only real distinction is that, unlike a lot of his other movies, he's not wearing a mask so you can actually see his face, and that he's holding a notebook that says:
Eddie Brock's Journalism Journal wrote:
- So, how exactly does the Life Foundation go about testing it's pharmaceuticals?

- What about the allegations your empire is built on?

- That you recruit the most vulnerable of us to volunteer for the tests that end up ... them?
Which basically indicates that there are going to be multiple symbiotes. The Life Foundation was from Venom's first mini, Lethal Protector, where they extract seeds from the Venom symbiote and implant them in five other people. Kind of like Carnage, but invasive.

SHIELD: Really liked how the story of the Kree Brothers played out. For a side story, it was well done. Main guy seems to be a decent actor, I didn't care for the brother's actor though. It was probably the lowest point of the side story.

I really thought that the She-Kree was going to betray him. Because he was willing to let her die just to get back on his father's good side. That she was going to join his brother. But it seems her loyalty/love of him is stronger than any feelings of betrayal she may have felt when he was willing to sacrifice her. It was an unforeseen twist, in my mind.

It was his hair that I found odd. It just looked out of place.

Tonight starts the DVR space killers with Supergirl returning, which kind of sucks for it because ... well, it just isn't that good to begin with, but also The Gifted season finale is on at the same time and I just can't imagine anyone choosing Kara over Blink and Lorna. Black Lightning tomorrow, so that's another one.

Hmm. For some reason my DVR box completely wiped out all my CW show recordings. I have no idea why. Good thing I read this and was able to reset them all.

After everything I said I still lost the first ten minutes of The Gifted. Which was a standard action packed season finale, though the Mutant Underground splitting into separate factions was interesting for next season. Haven't watched Supergirl yet, but saw a picture of what looks like Mon-El dressed as Future-Fitz from AoS. Finished watching it. Liked Brainiac 5, didn't like how they had to make Kara just a little smarter than him. "Why didn't I think of that?" Because you're within her circle of influence and your abilities are being drained. Smiley: glare

Mark Strong confirms he'll be Dr Sivana in DCEU's Shazam.
Sinestro wrote:
I'm playing an evil bastard called Doctor Sivana, they are always the best characters to play, the most fun. I was Sinestro in Green Lantern, which I though was a rather good film, but it didn't do what they wanted. So I feel like I've got unfinished business in the DC world. I played a pretty evil character in that, and he was meant to get even worse in the second one but that never happened, but I think I'm going to get the chance to do that in Shazam!, I hope so.
Sivana is your standard mad scientist, though he eventually accepts magic and gets hit in the face with lightning and gets a cool scar. I like Mark Strong, so might be cool.

Universal is apparently still trying to make their "Dark Universe" a thing, as rumor has it they're still trying to make Bride of Frankenstein. The Mummy was enough of a monster disaster in my opinion.

According to a Marvel Studios concept artist, Andy Park, we shouldn't expect the X-Men in the MCU "any time soon." Personally, I wasn't. If the MCU does anything, it's meticulously plan their storylines and I can't imagine they haven't got things set for at least two more "phases" before really having space for something huge like mutants and the FF4 to be brought in. Maybe some space for ever growing references and Easter Eggs, but nothing really huge until at least the end of Phase 4, start of 5.

I think I found out the reason my CW channel messed up. I think it actually changed stations. Like, a different local station or something. It still isn't HD (No HD CW channel locally) but the commercials advertise "Michigan" more, and while not HD, they are formatted to the full screen, rather than having two vertical black bars. And while it's been stretched, the resolution is horrible, huge block pixelation, like a digital satellite feed that's going in/out.

Supergirl: I like the Legion of Good Guys. Did this Brainy guy just show up out of no where for Comic Relief? Cause I don't recall him being introduced before.

Flash: Unless something better happens, I don't see myself liking this whole "Barry in prison for Murder" arc.

I haven't watched Black Lightning yet. Starting, but probably not going finish it before I fall asleep. Edit: First few minutes, they get pulled over... stupid kid flashing her recording phone in the officers faces before they are even up to the car. Smiley: oyvey Edit2: One of the kids used the term "low key". I'm out.

Edit:
OK.... Black Lightning is all over the place. So far it's almost nothing but poorly done social commentary. Black Lightning shows up and attacks two cops responding to the altercation, unprovoked. Black Lightning's white helper calls that "Playing Hero?"... Black Leader on TV complains that Black Lightning is being called a Vigilante instead of a Hero afterward, but so far not much "Hero" has happened. Is there a whole side story from one of the other shows that I've missed? He's name dropped a handful of events and people he's taken down but they mean nothing to me...

So far it's like... Empire with glowing eyes?

I guess I can "hope" that they go the route of Arrow and play thru all this stuff in flash backs to Black Lightning's "Island"... but you know how annoying that **** is.

I kind of expected it, considering how much Supergirl does it. I just didn't expect it to be so ... lazy. Not even five minutes (literally. I looked at the clock) in and it's the tired pull over scene, and the cop looks like 1990s Drew Carey. I did like the lightning effect for the punches and kicks. It was neat, and it'd be pretty decent way to save a few bucks on the budget not having to throw lightning every few scenes. I'm hoping the lazy writing is just an issue with the pilot and the following episodes ease back ... but I doubt it.

Flash was probably the worst episode of Law & Order imaginable. Evil Engineer Wife just says New Model Husband was okay with Old Model Husband and everyone just ... believes her? That's like the flimsiest of flimsy arguments. And then there's Barry leaving his trial, which is the most publicized event in the city, and the Flash appearing to fight the Monster of the Day and no one can put those two events together? Especially after testimony about how he's always late to work and randomly disappearing?

Huh. Didn't realize that was coming out. Haven't been following much of the DC stuff anyway. Got so bored with Supergirl (and it constantly dropping off my DVR series manager too), that I pretty much just stopped watching any of the CW stuff.

If you go by the reviews and twitter, it's the best show ever. Now I'm not sure whether to bother.

T-Mobile has partnered with Fox to offer $4 movie tickets for five of the studio's blockbusters in 2018: Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Red Sparrow, Deadpool 2, Alita: Battle Angel and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Considering the Fox and Disney deal still being finalized, this looks like basically a firesale to make as much money as possible before it's all said and done.

There's a Freeform Panel tonight (the channel), and will be debuting some new info and footage on Cloak & Dagger. It was supposed to start airing "Winter '18," but that window seems to be rapidly shutting. 0800PM EST, which is the last panel. Probably reveal when the show will actually show up.

FROM COMICS TO SCREEN – CREATING “MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER”

It used to be that you would read a comic book and transport yourself to a place that you fantasized being a part of. Today’s television viewing has created long-lasting opportunities for those fantasies to become real, with fan-favorite comic book properties that we grew up with becoming mainstream, appointment entertainment. Stories that we know and love are now brought to our many screens, but how do you ensure that the monumental characters are accurately portrayed? How do you take those characters that were created over 20 years ago and translate their intimate journeys for today’s viewer, when those characters were created in a different social landscape? And are those journeys necessarily so different now than they were then? Join the producing team behind “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” and series stars for a discussion about creating “Cloak” aka “Tandy Bowen” and “Dagger” aka “Tyrone Johnson” – a pair of young adults navigating a world of complexity, separating from parents, creating relationships and forming their own identities. While many of these challenges sound familiar, our young heroes have newly discovered superpowers that only make their journeys more complicated…

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is a coming-of-age series based on the beloved comic characters and is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Moderated by Alicia Lutes, Managing Editor, @Nerdist and Host, #Fangirling Panel participants will include:
Jeph Loeb (EP, Marvel’s Head of Television)
Gina Prince-Bythewood (Director, “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”)
Olivia Holt (“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”)
Aubrey Joseph (“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”)
Joe Pokaski (EP, “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”)
Ron Cephas Jones, best known for roles on Cage and This Is Us, is in talks to portray "The Wizard" in WB's Shazam. Not a bad choice. The casting for the movie, for the most part, has been pretty solid.

Freeform's Cloak & Dagger is premiering Thursday, June 7 at 0800pm ET/PT with a special two-hour premiere.

It's an adorable meet-cute, sure. Not a particular fan of the whole "drug testing guinea pig" angle missing, but who knows? Not like you can tell future plot points from a few minute clip. Then again, it is on a highly family-friendly channel ...

Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 trailer, and it looks just as ridiculously over-the-top as the first two seasons. Show returns February 25, 0900pm ET, which is apparently the same night as Walking Dead returns. The song choice is my favorite part.

So in Ant-Man & Wasp all people can see is a penis, and I'm sitting here and thinking "You fuckwits, they're insect faces."

I looked at the first image for about 3 minutes trying to find the penis and couldn't. Then I saw the second picture and realized where it was they were looking. Then I looked at Rudd's outfit and didn't even see it... then I realized the only reason it even remotely looks like it is because the Wasp costume has breasts.

On a side note, I cringe every time a current series or movie tries to be cool or edgy by mentioning current events or real life name drops. And the week before last's X-Files name dropping Snowden and Mueller made me cringe hard. But I liked that week's Cellphlone Gunman. I don't think I've watched last week's though. Gotta get on that.

Edit:
Caught up on X-Files. That episode was much more to my liking. Back to the "Monster of the Week" deal. Still a couple current Admin / Event name drops I could live without, but minimal. Here I thought Mulder/Scully were a thing already, and yet they are playing this little will-they-wont-they game. Just start banging already. I liked how in the end the Psychopathic/Telepathic Twins weren't agreeing on which of the two to kill. SCULLY or MULDER. And the shared "UL" in the name, "Two L's!" "No, One L!"

Preview for next week looks promising. By the short clip during the credits it looks like they are just going to go all out whacky. Some alternate scenario where Mulder finds evidence proving everything he ever wanted to believe, and being devastated by it, apparently ruining the fun of the game.

Lucifer: I liked the reveal that Cain was after Decker's ability to make immortals mortal. Not a bad episode, but not very memorable for me.

Supergirl: More girl power. I'm not sure what the mind control girl was doing to Mon's wife. Face wavey and then? Later she does it to Reign and makes her remember her human self. But I must have missed something, or they didn't do anything with Mon's wife.

More Reign-type powerful people incoming.

Edit:
I just looked up, and confirm that the main bad guy in Black Lighting is a character who is an Albino Black man, and is being played by an actual Albino Black man..

(I did think he had some very black facial features, but couldn't tell if he was a black man, or I was just being racist...)

I thought it was weird that he had what looked like a red beard.

Oscar nominations are out, and here is the full list if that's your kind of thing. Relevant to this thread is Logan is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 for Visual Effects. I don't imagine they'll win or anything. Oh, and a mountain of petitions for Wonder Woman.

I honestly couldn't tell in the first episode if he was a really light skinned black man, or some Irish mobster who had grown up in the hood. Which is why I had looked it up yesterday after seeing some Black Lightning commercials on CW while watching Supergirl.

And on the Happy! front... Patrick Fischler as Smoothie is probably my favorite character on that series so far. I love any scene with him in it. He plays that character well.

OK... I just realized after seeing a trailer for "Game Night"... I thought Matt Damon was in an episode of Black Mirror and it turns out it wasn't him... it was a guy named Jesse Plemons. And I'm pretty sure I posted here earlier about Matt Damon then too. All White Men look alike to me.

I'm really liking Ralph, his subplots are the type of absurd that I really get into. The problem I'm finding is that his adventures and Barry's are paced too differently so it made the episode feel too uneven. Pretty sure next week's episode with the shrinking is going to feel the same way.

Black Lightning was better this week than last week's pilot. The family vs duty conflict is working so far. And, you know, drunk teenage lesbians.

Deadpool 2's trailer will be attached to Black Panther, and should appear online February 14th, the same day Deadpool 1 released. There's also supposed to be a Sneak Peek at Avengers: Infinity War at 9pm tonight on During "The Launch on CTV" ... whatever that is.

Ya, second episode of Black Lightning was much better. I think the biggest difference... less of that annoying social justice phone in the cops face daughter.

X-Files... quite the episode. The name/event drops in this one worked, cause of the comedic nature of the whole thing. There is so much good in that episode. From Scully and the Leprechaun Taint to Humanity being locked out of the Universe and left to explore Uranus all we want. I laughed a lot when they were going thru the montage of Reggie's jobs. They reach the CIA and it's just him bored-ly waterboarding some random prisoner inside the office.

Guess it can't be all fun and games though, next week we're back to the real stuff. Smiley: frown

I almost fell out of my seat when early in the episode they flashbacked to Mulder watching TV, and it's just his current head superimposed over a kid's body all lazy like. Also I'm like 90% that small things kept changing during the episode to mess with people. Those statues during the Dr They conversation had to have been moving. "It's the Mandela effect. When someone has a memory of something that's not shared by the majority or the factual record. For instance, there are some people that have a memory of seeing a movie called Shazam starring Sinbad as an irrepressible genie. Even after it's pointed out to them they're probably thinking of a movie called Kazaam starring Shaquille O'Neil as an irrepressible genie. Especially because a movie named Shazam was never made."
"But what if I don't remember either movie?"
"You win!"

Combine the absurdity of X-Files with Happy! and last night's shows were spectacular. "I am going to show you why they call me Smoothie." "But I wasn't curious!"

David Mazouz says that the Joker is coming to Gotham, and it won't be Jerome. Which is basically saying that the real Joker is just copycatting Jerome, which kind of stinks.

Hans Zimmer will be scoring the score for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so at the very least the music will be really good in the movie.

Daredevil: S3 is bringing Joanne Whalley onboard to play Sister Maggie. You may remember Whalley as Sorsha from Willow. Smiley: thumbsup

First look at Brie Larson in her Captain Marvel costume. Not wild about the color scheme. Homage to original Captain Marvel, no doubt. But still.

In the rumor-world, there's some speculation that Henry Cavill might be showing up in Shazam.

I get the "semi-realistic" thing they're going for here, but it does seem as though a lot of these Marvel costumes are looking a heck of a lot alike. The Ant Man and Wasp costumes, this one, pretty much all the 2nd string Avenger folks (Black Widow, Falcon, heck, even Hawkeye), all look like they were cut by the same tailor. Which possibly explains why they don't have capes...

Marvel has never really been big on capes, excluding their obvious ersatz characters where the original had a cape as well (Nighthawk, Hyperion, Moon Knight, Sentry, etc). And the Asgardians. And that time Steve dropped the Captain America persona and tripped over it. Man, I'm disappointed that the Russos said Evans won't have a cape in Infinity War.

According to EW, Dove Cameron will be joining Agents of SHIELD as "a young woman of cunning intelligence who has a mysterious obsession with Daisy Johnson," and happens to be the daughter of General Hale, who was holding Fitz captive earlier in the season.

First trailer for the HBO documentary about Andre the Giant. In case you'd like a peanut.

Black Panther had a premiere last night, and like every single other movie to have an early red carpet-esque premiere everyone that saw it liked it. Which, you know, means nothing really.

In my defense I completely missed that.

Watched Supergirl. Not a bad episode, liked the Lexosuit, though would have liked it more if it happened during the day so the colors could be more distinguishable. Not a fan of the whole "Don't touch women!" line. Completely clunky and pointless since the guy Kara said it to was a freakin' bouncer slash bodyguard and it was his job to physically prevent people from passing him. Another amusing Ralph and Cisco episode from The Flash, and I'm going to say much like Bautista I was pleasantly surprised by Goldberg's performance. Really liked him as Big Sir. Glad he got a Good End. The promo for next week's show looks like we're getting back to the more morose main plot with Barry.

Jim Caviezel confirmed that Passion of the Christ 2 is being made and says it's going to be the "biggest movie ever." I imagine it won't be like the Family Guy episode, which is a shame because that would be hilarious.

I fell asleep before posting about that, but it was probably my biggest complaint of the episode. But can't expect much from Supergirl (Or some other CW shows) if not their Witty Social Commentary (/s). Each episode starts out now with "I'm a refugee on this planet!" (Even though she wasn't sent there seeking refuge, she was sent there for the purpose of protecting her Cousin according to their own words...)

I could live with them toning down James' "White Knighting" for Lena. Now that they're gonna bone, he's all over doing nothing but protecting her. Talbot is a bad guy, but James slapping him with the Lena-rection every chance he gets (and seemingly only when he does stuff to Lena).

Flash was a good episode. I am liking the direction they took the Barry-Prison arc. For comedy I particularly like when Ralph got stepped on like chewing gum. And when Cisco tried to teleport and ran face first into the coffee mug. "How many fingers am I holding up?" "What fingers?".

I still haven't watched last week's Arrow. I may end up watching last week's and this week's at the same time.

How do you make a sequel to what was essentially a snuff film? It's not like you can kill him again. Well, I suppose with the whole resurrection thing, you could, but that probably wouldn't go over so well with the sort of people that thought that first movie was worth a damn.
