A shiny quarter says that Korra will solve the inequality between benders and non-benders by Spoilerusing spirit bending to give everyone bending.

SpoilerI don't think she'll give everyone bending. Just doesn't seem to be the answer. I also don't think Amon's "energy bending" is truly energy bending, or a gift from the spirits as he claims. I think the whole 'thumb to the forehead' motion is just for show, and the real 'magic' happens with his hand on a pressure point at the base of the neck. I think he's just blocking their Chi with a more permanent pressure point.

Also, SpoilerZuko is apparently still alive. The little "adventures" flash game says Zuko is 87, and he gave his position to his daughter, now just acts as ambassador. With Aang gone, he and Katara can get it on, old person style. Bow-chicka-wow-wow.

The way I hope they end the series is that Korra takes away all bending except for her own; then either disappears into the wild ala Yoda, or turns the entire planet against her to unify them ala Watchmen.

....SpoilerGod I hope he turned out like Iroh.... only more Zuko...y....er... but without the excessive angst, because he's an old@#%^ now, he's nut supposed to angst. Alternatively, I hope he's become batsh*t senile, exactly the same way bumi did, because that Zuko would be @#%^ing hysterical to see. SpoilerAnd by that I mean that in how you can't tell if he's really off his rocker, or if he's just faking it to @#%^ with you.



I haven't, I hadn't even heard of them until today, but I think I'm gonna to have to go find/read them, too.

Bumi was just as crazy as a kid too though, not just an old man.

What times are you guys watching the show? I watched the 8 PM one and it was the same episode as last week, and there were no other listings for other episodes..

Not too bad of a guess, though I would disagree--with the caveat of not being able to offer up anyone better. SpoilerKoh makes some sense because of the mask, and in his speech he did include suspicious references to spirits. However It seems very unlikely for the series to have a wholly supernatural enemy as the primary antagonist. The mask narratively necessitates a reveal, which means it'll be a reference to some we know. Initially I though this might be a character with aconnection ot the previous series (though not directly from the previous series), however as of the most recent episode Tarrlok seems a suspicious character. Whatever the case, his past sympathetic history is entirely bullshiz for certain.

Episode 5 is a bit of a cleanser. I was not going to suffer through an entire season of love triangle bullshiz.

I don't believe they change the rules. From what I've seen, there is a finite round duration though you can obviously finish it sooner. A full KO is worth more points than knocking out a few members.

What is happening is that people win when and in the ways necessitated by the plot. The matches were just supposed to represent team conflict for the episode. At the end, Korra coming back to win a 3v1 is just about plot. It didn't make much sense in terms of the sport.

SpoilerMy bad, I remembered it as an Airbender but playing the episode again there was no mention of bender status or type. I was talking about that "Yaako?" guy mentioned in last week's episode, and it was 42 years not 47.

About 2 minutes in during the council meeting, just before Tenzin gets pissed off.

Well, the start of the series states that Korra doesn't have the spiritual side of bending down at all, so maybe she can't channel it even subconsciously? Or maybe she just hasn't been pushed far enough for it to activate. I've really got nothing as far as that, though I don't doubt that at some point she'll be pushed over the edge and it will activate in some way.

I don't know if I've stated it yet, but I can't get enough of the music. The big band swing sound is awesome, like when she's running from the police just after fighting the Triple Threat Triad in the first episode. Granted, I think that's the only song like that on the soundtrack thus far, and I hope there are going to be more tracks similar to it in the future.

Also, was good to see the metalbenders and Lin both use some earthbending. I was afraid for a moment that they were going to just metalbend, which would have been mildly annoying. Not to mention that apparently metalbending lets you be Wolverine*. We're all in agreement that Earthbending is best bending, right?

* SpoilerRather Spider-Man when he still had Spider Stingers, or currently Kaine as the Scarlet Spider who does have them. Went with Wolverine since claws are easily recognizable.

I literally had to pause the video for a good five minutes to recover from how hard that set up made me laugh, because it triggered a mental montage of every time that happened to the guy in the original series. Way to keep the running gags going, guys, I love you so much

SpoilerAmon and Tarrlok are either working together, or @#%^ing know each other and are playing off of each other to accomplish their evil schemes. I can't say for certain which yet, but this is something I'm absolutely certain of. That said, was anyone else not surprised by Hiroshi working with/for Amon? I knew the poor cabbage guy had been framed because he's the @#%^ing cabbage guy, but honestly I was kind of suspicious of hiroshi even when he was introduced, the whole "firebenders killed my wife, but I'll totally support you and let you date my daughter, firebender kid" thing just did not sit well with me, given the propensity for "Fire benders killed my family" in this series' characters' backstories... lol

Ya, the Avatar shouldn't need any spiritual control to enter it in a purely defensive, uncontrolled mode. Like when Aang released the Avatar state during the storm as he fled the air temples out of fear of being seperated from Giazo.(sp?) Or when he found Giazo's bones at the air temple, or when the earth kingdom general threatened Katara's life, or when the sand benders stole Appa.

It really didn't take much to trigger Aang, he was a bit more of an emotional youngster. But given how much fear Amon has been putting into Korra, and how every time he touches her she gets flashes from Aang's memories, I'm really expecting that to be a rush of Aang's spirit into hers, like the beginnings of the Avatar state. Since that's pretty much what the Avatar state is, every spirit of the past Avatars inhabiting the current Avatar.

The unrealized release is there just to protect the Avatar before they learn to control it. Otherwise the Avatar would be a sitting duck.

I'm of the opinion that she just hasn't been pushed far enough yet. She's come close to danger quite a few times, but never was she mere seconds away from certain doom.

I'm expecting her to enter the avatar state within the next few episodes when in a really bad situation against Amon, prefaced by a completion of the flashback memories from Aang. And lots of airbending. Assuming good pacing that is.

Today was a new episode, and Tarrlok is Evil.

SpoilerAnd he can bloodbend, without a full moon. Of course, Katara used blood bending without a full moon when she caught who she though was her mother's killer with Zuko. If I'm not mistaken the flashbacks showed someone that looked a lot like Tarrlok (probably that Yakone guy they mentioned previously who had a struggle with Aang), in court with Toph (guard) and Aang (at either the Defendant or Prosecutions table) and possibly Sokka. The person appeared to be using bloodbending on Toph and Aang. I wonder how Tarrlok and Yakone are related.
