Bought the first two manga after watching the first few episodes at Otakon like 5 years ago. It was GREAT- hilarious and truthful for most of it.

On another note, if you enjoyed Genshiken you also might like Aoi House. A little more fan service, and a bit less realistic, but it's a similar starting idea: the two main characters are total otaku. However, they get into a house that is filled with beautiful female otaku who actually love... yaoi (the Y fell off the house's name). It's pretty hilarious. Actually, I'm surprised I forgot about it; it's kind of a harem manga, although only two of the girls have romantic feelings for the main guy. I really enjoyed the end of the first omnibus; it left on a great cliff-hanger. The second omnibus wasn't as good, but still worth reading.
