73+ dead, 100+ injured in France. Someone drove a truck through a crowd.

Naturally, EU citizens will show that mean business and stop this act of aggression by chanting 'Songs of Peace, Love and Understanding'. There will be a moratorium sent to all the papers to ensure that hate enabling speech is verbotten, and remains so until the end of time, or, at least, EU.

If only France, Germany, and Belgium accepted more refugees... if only..

If only the French had drivers licenses, this would have been prevented.

Alternatively: Women drivers, amirite?

I for one am of the opinion France should ban all cars. I mean they already half ban it in Paris. Why not go all the way?

Looks like the guy was Franco-Tunisian. Probably Islamic revolutionary, but unclear if ISIS affiliated. I'd assume he was mad about French tourists vacationing on the Sahel.

Well, I certainly do not condone being mad about the tourists, but I understand.

If that's the case, then I can sympathize. November to January is a nightmare around here.

The way some headlines have been written, it's worded as if the truck did the attack on its own. So, dark humor has taken its natural course.

I expected more satire over the city name. The headlines are awful enough by themselves at first glance:

"Who was the Nice attacker?"

"Nice attack: Dozens killed"

"Nice attack: Footage of final gun battle"

I did see a Tweet of a photo of one of the bodies with the caption "Nice, France" and it took me a moment to realize it wasn't some sort of sarcastic jab at the policies of the country.

Google searches for a Nice Truck have certainly been ruined forever.

I guess it's as good an inappropriate time as any to use this olde pic.

Taoism of the day post

Not even remotely close to the same thing.

Without opening your door,
you can open your heart to the world.
Without looking out your window,
you can see the essence of the Tao.

The more you know,
the less you understand.

The Master arrives without leaving,
sees the light without looking,
achieves without doing a thing.

It is interesting how hard the media are working to ensure that there is no mention of the actual assailant. Heavens help us all if he ( or she, lets pretend we are being equal opportunity employer here ) turns out to be, say, a Muslim. I guess humor is the best way to correct this idiocy.

French-Tunisian guy, permanent French resident, Muslim but not religious, neighbors and friends say he liked women and was pretty secular. Was married with three kids, recently divorced and supposedly depressed. Cops had a record on him for domestic assault. Some neighbors called him sort of creepy.

That's just from memory from the articles I've seen today. Are you sure you actually tried reading anything before deciding that the media was hiding it from you?

If every detail and what your opinion of the matter isn't spoonfed to you directly then it is completely hidden!

My apologies, I didn't read anything past the titles today. Work is being more annoying than usual. Would you feel better if I clarified that based on the titles, it seems like the use of the passive voice signifies intent to hide the actor resulting in an apparent Decepticon attack ( surely, Optimus Prime would not kill all humans )?

Unlike you, I am a very simple person. When someone in authority tells me there is nothing to see here, then in my heart of hearts I KNOW, that there is nothing to see here.

Huh? Last time I checked, Americans like being told what to do. Or at least given two simple options. Yes. No. For. Against. With me. Without me. That is the American way.
