Not really. It does look like he may have temporarily halted the seemingly inevitable slide into cold war bis.

So all business deals are safe; soon France and Germany will be able to peacefully sell all kinds of fun toys to Russia.

Russia knows what happens when you fight a war during the Russian winter. Besides if people get grumpy they'll just turn off the gas.

Yes, but they're also fighting kinda Russians. Which means... stalemate? Maybe some debate over who's the real Russians and who are the impostors and are therefore historically obligated to lose? Probably thought it best not to tempt fate and all.

Seriously though, this is still win/win for Putin. I really doubt he cares too much either way.
