Pretty sure I'm Cogmatix. Or did that change while I was gone? My profile seems to have forgotten who I am so I can hardly blame you for asking such an obvious question. It's been ten or twelve years since I've posted here and Google tells me this was once the "OoT" board, so I posted here in the hopes of flushing out some familiar faces.
I see you are Aethien! Judging by all that fancy flair you have there it would appear there was at one point some debate regarding whether or not you are an elitist. Are you? Was this ever resolved, or is it ongoing? I'll cast an "Aye" vote, given the rather abrupt response.

I've always been Cogmatix, that's the name of my original EQ character.
I downloaded EQ again last week on a lark, which is really why I'm here. There was once a time when many of the forum regulars of this board played together (including Alla himself) on Saryrn but that was....a long time ago.
Also, thanks to Lori Darqflame for assisting in the recovery of my account. I really didn't expect much help with that.
Even if it has apparently be wiped. I noticed that some of my Beastiary posts now just show up as "Anonymous".

Stuff, mostly. I had some kids! Well, not me personally but this woman I know did and they do appear to be related to me so I'm going with it. I've also had a few jobs, which accounts for most of my time in the interim.
I stopped playing MMOs entirely for a very long time, after I left EQ for WoW (during the initial launch) I lost interest in the MMO "thing" and just never really got back to it. Lack of free time and all that. I lost access to this account not long after I stopped playing EQ and didn't think about it for a very long time, my rather voluminous posting habits shifted first to Fark.com and later to Reddit. Which is still where I spend most of my time.
Pretty awesome to see some familiar names, though. I assume Alla sold the site or perhaps acquired several more? It's rather different these days. Quite roomy, in fact.

Alla sold the site originally to the parent company of IGE (the gold/plat selling people) in a debacle where people denied it, pretended it was someone else, it wasn't going to change the site, etc. Then they got bought out by some investment company. Then I think they sold it to some Chinese company which I believe is where we're at right now. It's pretty much impossible to get straight answers.
On the plus side, Alla made bank off the sale and I think is puttering with some side projects in a quasi-retirement. Illia stayed on for a while (as did Alla) as nominal heads but the Powers That Be decided to can Illia and Alla quit as well in protest. Danalog (dunno if you knew him or not but he was the site coding wiz) got picked up by IMDB. Darkflame and Kao are about it for the old imperial guard these days.
On the plus side, Alla made bank off the sale and I think is puttering with some side projects in a quasi-retirement. Illia stayed on for a while (as did Alla) as nominal heads but the Powers That Be decided to can Illia and Alla quit as well in protest. Don't remember Danalog but I'm sorry to hear about Illia. She was always awesome. Of course, that all probably happened years ago and my tiny internet sympathies are likely to be misplaced.

I admit I've reactivated my EQ account and have been trying to puzzle out how I'm supposed to spend 4k AAs and 11 years worth of veteran rewards. I know what pretty much none of those things are, hence....here I am. Well, not here specifically but on the site. In general.

Would have been UBB, yep. I think I stopped posting around '02 or '03. Ish. If I remember correctly the OoT forum has a sort of running slapfight and I sort of stopped paying attention since I wasn't playing EQ any longer. I see the site itself caters to a wide array of players today, though. Even if some of the forums appear to be, uh, kinda slow.

Good to know. I hadn't kept up with things really since Alla left. I didn't know what happened to Danalog.
