My weekend started yesterday, as I packed and drove up to Darlington Md. for the Maryland Faerie Festival. I get to dress up as the Unseelie Queen Mother and entertain the children who visit the Unseelie Court. Attendee who come in costume, get a discount on the price of admission.

I look forward to doing this every year as it's great fun seeing all the smiles on people faces. There will be photos posted on my Facebook page.

Have fun, I know I will.

While not my particular cup of tea, I am curious about the vendor Bees by the Bay and am wondering if it involves Nicolas Cage and/or explosions.

That sounds like such an awesome weekend. Have a great time and don't forget to post pics!

Heat wave starting today. I purchased a decent mini pool and am seeing it up on the deck today. This weekend we'll have a mothers day brunch, grab a few bird feeders, garden, and drink mojitos while the kids play in the water

Sadly Paul is working this weekend, so he can have Memorial Day weekend off.

My middle Daughter is the Unseelie Queen and her S.O. is the Unseelie King. That's why I get to play the Queen Mother.

They are a local bee keeper, who sells the honey from the bee hives they have.

DSD, I'll be sure to post photos after this weekend.

I decided to take today and Monday off (already have Friday off) to get caught up on various projects around here. The yardwork portion of that might not be happening on account of the epic rainstorm outside, but there are plenty of indoors type thingies to work on. It's funny, when you're the only person living in a house, no one else does anything to fix anything in it heh.

No major weekend plans aside from that.

No major weekend plans here either seeing as how I just got back from Scotland two days ago. And talking about dressing up: Beltane photos I took, link because it's not entirely safe for google/work.

Also, enjoy the faerie festival Elne!

They claim it's supposed to end by Saturday night. Plenty of time to pull weeds. Smiley: nod

We have a mother's day brunch thingy at the zoo we usually go to, so that's on the agenda. I'm not sure what else though. Grocery shopping is going to be big for sure. The wife's work has had a bad habit of sending out the paychecks a few days late, which messes with those kinds of things. Coming off a week of 'whatever we had around' because of that, I'm ready for some better stuff. Smiley: lol

Yay it's Friday! Reminder: Sunday is Mother's Day.

I've no plans to speak of. My husband says we have to clean the house as it's really messy, but I'm just not sure that's what i want to do this weekend. I think Sunday morning breakfast at the local bakery/cafe will be my Mother's Day and my weekend highlight.

Spent all of yesterday painting leaves for special gifts to children from the King and Queen.

Little one wants to buy mommy a present for Mother's Day, so I'll do like that one jewelry commercial and give her a pocketful of change and pay for something she picks behind her back.

Then pancakes. Mountains of pancakes.

Since I was the one taking them, nope. I'm crazy but not quite crazy enough to go run around outside in the rain wearing little but bodypaint at what must've been around 5°C (41°F). And it's not like it only lasts an hour either, it started at about 8:30PM and ended around 1AM.

It's quite impressive with all the torches, fires and loads of drums so it was well worth the cold to me.

Husband is running in a 4 mile race tomorrow. In-laws are coming to watch.

So day is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN day and then the rest of the weekend is kind of downhill after that.

I have to go register at a church this weekend so I can be my nephew's Godfather. Then I have to start going to church and being a good Catholic until the Christening. After that, I'll go back to attending when my grandparents have a mass said in memory of my dad.

I don't think my brother or his wife really have strong feelings either way about it, but his grandmother-in-law sent them a greeting card somewhat recently asking if they'd saved the child from eternal damnation yet, or something. So it's pretty much just to appease the older relatives. Smiley: lol

Pssst! They don't actually track whether you go to church or not. Although, it's probably a good idea to go to a few masses ahead of time, just so you don't look too obviously like you don't know what's going on. Great thing about Catholic mass is that it's formulaic enough that once you've been to a few you know what to expect, but with just enough variation from one church to another that just following along with the crowd is a totally acceptable practice and wont raise a single eyebrow.

Well, what I should have done was to say "great! I'll go register at a church closer to my house." But instead, I just registered there, and they're sending me budget envelopes, which are used to track attendance if they're anything like my old church's.

Anyway, it's only like 3 or 4 weeks 'til the Christening so it's not a big deal.

Sure, and they just wear the hats because it's fashionable and they're not mind control devices at all.

How bloody was the coup to steal the throne?

Not bloody at all. So far the Royal Courts have avoided playing the game of thrones, though rummer of a attempt on the Queen may happen in a year or two.

My daughter who plays the Queen is in college and feels she needs to find a replacement to play the queen, since the festival is during her college exams.
