Well it is Varuss again afterall. I like to let him think we haven't noticed and he's getting away with something before I re ban him. I suppose I should follow up with his ISP but he hasn't annoyed me enough again lately to bother yet. I must be going soft.

My weekend plans consist of 1, finding a table large enough upstairs to actually fit the new 3d printer, 2 print something cool with it., and 3. go pick up the other video card for my little upgrade project to swap the pair of 580 GTX 3gb's out for a pair of somethings with a bit more horsepower. That should be enough crazyness for one weekend heh.

Fundamentally bad, or just not ready for release?

Why buy the cow when you can have the milk for free, or something like that.

When the cow's name is Norman it's probably a good idea to avoid the milk at all costs.

Going to get my car washed/detailed (cause it's been like month because every single time I have a day off, it's threatening rain).. Then other weekendy stuff (laundry, cleaning around the house, etc). Sunday, going to the ballet (ok, children's youth ballet, but still), then going out to dinner with my family to do my brothers birthday thing. Should be a fun, full day. Will probably play some EQ as well.

Oh. Cause I've just got to add this somewhere. I had some milk leftovers from some mac n cheese I made like a week ago, so I figured I'd use it to make some scalloped potatoes. Course, needed some protein of some kind to go with it and checked steak prices, but there were no deals going on. So I found some pork loin/chops. Like a 4 pack for $5 something. Not something I've cooked a lot other than barbequed somehow, but that may change. Little salt, pepper, sage, and thyme, and hot oil on a pan? Holy F'ing hell! Add a side salad, and it's one of the best home meals I've made all year. Nom nom!

I'll be eating the last of that. So it's technically weekend related. Burp!

Both, unfortunately. Looks like Skyrim, which is nice, gameplay is kind of a worst of both worlds of less complicated storyline than standalone ES titles and really mediocre MMPORG mechanics. Combat particularly is tedious while still requiring input. If you're going to make it boring, at least don't make it boring where I have to click a mouse for 20 minutes.

As I recall, Smash played a warrior in EQ which pretty much required hitting auto-attack and then setting up a magic drinking bird to hit "Taunt" every 15 seconds.

Correct. That was far more rewarding than ESO combat.

I spent the last two Beta sessions I participated in just running around and unlocking the random chests that spawned around the world. Was pretty easy, got lots of items that had little to no use.

ESO doesn't allow you to train your group then?

I just don't like playing games designed for consoles on a PC. So, ESO pretty much sucked for me. I'm still holding out for EQN.

And this weekend, after cleaning, I plan on doing **** all. This has been a hell of a week.

Oh... Ick. Same thing here. I keep thinking "why the hell can I only have four weapons and four abilities ready to go at any given time. I've got like a zillion buttons... Oh." Smiley: glare

Gotta use up 22 vacation days in the remaining 41 days left of the company's vacation year.

Working out of town for 5 months left very little time to use up my vacation days, so when I got back I had to put in a ton to burn them up or I'd lose them. Lots of 4 and 5 days weekends for the next 8 weeks for me. I only have to work for 9 days during May.

4 weeks and a bit off seems like a pretty damn nice amount of vacation, although after 5 months from home I guess you're not aching to go anywhere.

Taking off any large number of consecutive days is not likely allowed to happen (due to work responsibilities). So I can't use all the days to take a solid month off. The longest I usually take of is the week of Memorial Day. Which I am taking off this year too.

Do they let you double burn hours/days? My work allows me to fill in a matching vacation hour on my time card (one for every vacation hour I take). I basically get to turn those hours into extra pay. Kinda nice to take a week off, but use two weeks vacation time, and get a half-again sized paycheck at the end of it (paid every two weeks). Pays for whatever I feel like doing.

I've yet to play a new/newish MMO that wasn't fundamentally bad... yet. In recent months, I've tried Rift, Neverwinter, Perfect World, Ragnarok Online, Dragon Nest and ESO Beta. I'm thinking about trying Terra, Phantasy Star Online 2 and Guild Wars 2 next, but my expectations are pretty low at this point.

Right now I'm wading through SWTOR hoping it will get better. I've also been playing Rust, which isn't an MMO so much as it is Valve's rendition of sadistic Minecraft-style survival PvP.

Edit:

Except it's not made by Valve-- just uses the same engine as pretty much all of their games.

No. I can't turn my vacation days in for money in any way. They used to allow it, a few years before I started working there. Now they don't, and their reasoning is they want people to use their vacation days, not turn them in for money all the time, and get "burned out" by working non stop.

DayZ Standalone is still in Alpha; but even as is it makes for a great gaming experience IMO plus it's pretty cheap at the moment... if you're in to the survivalist/zombies stuff. The bulk of the game-play (when not looting and preventing starvation) is more about interactions with other players. There are no quests or experience points so everyone is on level playing field. What makes this game most interesting is when you die you start completely over again.. so it really makes for good heart-pounding suspense when dealing with people.
A friend and I once sat pinned in a building for a half hour after getting shot at after a multi-hour looting session.. hearts pounding before we decided it was safe to make a run for it.

Eventually they will add vehicles, constructable bases, etc. There are also things to worry about like disease and blood types (for transfusions).

Some of the more amusing aspects of the game are things such as.. being held prisoner (with handcuffs) and being stripped and force-fed disinfectant for the amusement of your captors.

The map is absolutely humungous and is real to life scale. It's a good break from the standard auto-attack, rinse, repeat, turn-in-crap to an NPC..
Total sandbox.
After watching a few of the vids of people playing it I had to get it.

I think I'm coming down with something.

Progressively throughout the day I have become more and more "achey". Spreading around the back of my neck and down my shoulders and it feels like the back side of my lungs. Just "bleh".

They told me a week before I came home that something was spreading like crazy through the shop back home. I'm in the shop for 5 days and I think I must have caught it.
