I've gotten about three snow days so far this semester. That said, I haven't gotten any snow at all, it was just a mild threat of icy roads and they closed for the most part.

Looking at at least a delayed start tomorrow, too.

Snowboarding is pretty much the only winter sport I'll watch, and even then, I don't follow it. I was a bit shocked at far behind the women are in terms of trick difficulty compared to the men. The men are throwing out ridiculous tricks that belong in video games, and the woman are tossing out the tricks the guys were doing five to ten years ago. I can't really say it's because of differences in physical strength either, some of those guys are pretty small and they're still throwing out insane moves.

Well, even if the men are small, their muscle/body weight ratio is still well above the womens'.

The difference in difficulty is shockingly large though. I haven't seen much of snowboarding but on the Moguls the women on the podium jumped a 360 and a backwards flip on the 2 jumps where the men jumped a 720 with a backflip and more stuff like that. And from what I heard a 900 on the women's slopestyle was a big deal but all the men have to be able to do a 1440 to even compete.

Hmm, yeah I just watched the gold medal slopestyle runs for men's and women's. (Which took forever to find on NBC's god-awful and dysfunctional olypmics website.) Turin is right that the men's tricks look like video game moves. And the women just did vanilla rotations. Maybe the sport's gender-skewed participation has an effect? I feel like it's rarer to see a young girl snowboarding or skateboarding than their relative participation in other sports.

It doesn't really help that the women's slopestyle was held a day after the men's slopestyle so you're watching the women with the men's tricks in mind.

Yes, shockingly, it seems to be another example of a competition designed by men where male attributes are basically what is being measured. There is a reason there isn't an Olympic Nurturing event.

Some kind of reality show thing? Put you in a box with 20 screaming kids and see how long you can go before losing it.

Stupid Canadians, spoiling our perfect streak in men's speed skating by getting a silver medal. We're only 8/9 medals now!

Haha I saw that, I kinda felt bad for the nixing the clean sweep for the Lagelanden.

But we had to keep pace with Norway before all the skiing is done...and those damn krauts sitting in top place with 6 Golds. Da Fuq.

Its cool though for 18 hours yesterday Canada led in both Gold and Total medals for the first time our nations olympic history (summer or winter) so that is something special.

The only relevant medals are speed skating medals and we've got 10/15 so far and we're looking to break the 13 medals total and the 6 gold medal records with solid medal chances in every distance and even another big chance at a podium sweep (men's 10,000m) coming up.

I'll be happy when there's a women's hockey final that isn't U.S. vs Canada.

It's okay I'm sure we'll come up with some kind of good excuse, we can blame the speed skating losses on the suits, the figure skating on the judges, maybe we'll just call ya'll freaks with too much ice or something? It'll help us feel better about ourselves.

Also

Well darn it all, we can probably pawn him off on Florida at least.
