But I finally, for real this time, quit smoking. It's been three weeks and I haven't looked back. I've tried almost everything, from wellbutrin, chantix, patches, gum, tooth picks. I even joined a study group at Duke with an 85% quit rate and I couldn't quit. I tried a disposable e-cigs (blu) and that didn't help.
I've been wanting to try real e-cigs for awhile but they're always so expensive, and so I'd always put it off. There was always something else more important for the kids or the family. But life got thrown upside down for me a month ago and I finally decided to do something for me. I did a bunch of research and found an e-cigs with good independent ratings and decided to try it out.

Three weeks later, and I haven't even though of picking up a real cig. I can even be around people smoking and it doesn't bother me. So I just wanted t share a pretty important milestone in my life. Yay! Now, back to your regularly scheduled GFY! Smiley: cool

Congratulations! I salute your efforts to make the air more breathable for smoke-sensitive folks like me. Smiley: nod

Notice any differences yet? Like your sense of smell or taste returning, or an easier time breathing?

Congrats!

You can refill your cartridges yourself (with all sorts of flavors) to save money on e-cigs.

Not really. I can smell cig smoke much more, but otherwise nothing much. I have been getting the symptoms of quitting though, acne as my skin clears out the toxins, and I caught my first cold in a year. Hopefully that will stop soon, cause it all kind of sucks. But, I'm not smoking yay!!!

Yeah, I started with pre-filled and the next week bought liquid and blanks. Using liquid I'll be saving $160 per month Smiley: grin I even found an e-cigs store two minutes down the road that has an abundance of flavors I want to try out. I'm enjoying the chocolate I purchased.

The coolest part is that I can lower my nicotine myself, so that I can wean myself off on my own time, making sure that I never go back to smoking. I just bought the next step down yesterday and if all goes well, I'll go down the next step the following month.

No smell, no cravings, I wish I had done this sooner

I wish you the best of luck. Chantix worked for me initially for a couple of months but then stopped. I also had the side effect of severe nausea and throwing up each time I took it. I still took it, despite the side effect, because I was desperate to quit. I truly hope that you have better luck with it and am wishing you the best!

Thanks. I've taken it before and made it 4 months. I too got nauseous from it but found if I ate 30minutes before taking it, there was very little nausea. Fingers crossed!

Let me know how it goes. And if it doesn't work out, don't give up! It took me twenty years before I finally found a way.

And for everyone else, thank you!

I'm on attempt 40. Or maybe it's 50. Someday I'll get it done, when I take it serious enough apparently. Hopefully, that's this time. Chantix has been my most successful at 4 months. Everything else is no more than 3-4 days..

Must be a Christmas rush...I have an appointment Friday for the same (first try). Wonder how much our doctors get for prescribing it.

Congrats! Here's hoping it truly sticks for ya!

I smoked for 30 years and a year and a half ago, I just put them down. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be because I was TRULY ready to quit. I had been having palpatations every day, sometimes 3-4 times. That scared the crap out of me, so I knew it was time to quit. I still have cravings, but nothing I can't handle. The worst was when my husband was in the hospital.

Very proud of you, keep it up!

Hey Ugly.

Are the internet stories of Chantix true? Some of the side effects sound kind of disturbing.
