It's ok, I assume everyone from the Midwest watches Red Dawn every Sunday to stay in jacked up anti-commie mode. Wolverines!

Elinda's Christmas Decoration Collection® includes some of them Russian Nesting Dolls. They currently reside in that hard to reach spot atop my kitchen cupboards.

They've always nested nicely and have held up well over many years.

The Commies in Red Dawn only made it as far as the Mississippi and never crossed into Illinois.

Learn your US history, fool.

Perhaps all the countries that aren't Russia should make a show of solidarity by combining their flags into a giant rainbow..it'd be "fabulous".

I also wonder how many Russian athletes are going to be sent to the Gulags for getting their asses beat by a bunch of "****".

The Obama's won't be attending the Olympics, but the Pres has selected a delegation of openly gay former Olympic Athletes to represent the US in the Open and Closing Ceremonies.

Billie Jean's getting a free trip to Russia. Smiley: smile

Well, he's including openly gay athletes in the delegation. It's not a delegation of solely gay athletes.

Boycotting over this is pretty @#%^ing ridiculous.

First its Democracy. The majority of people in Russia support the Anti-Gay sh*t. That is all that matters. Inside the borders of Russia the majority of its people want these laws, so opinions from outside Russia are pretty irrelevant. Not to mention Contrary to Democracy!

World: Yo Russia you should become a Democracy!
Russia: You think so? Ok we will do it!
World: Welcome to the New World Russia we knew you could do it...oh but wait these laws aren't very democratic...
Russia: What do you mean...the majority of people want these laws.
World: Ya but thats just the Russian People. Can't you see that the rest of the worlds people don't agree with those laws...
Russia: But that doesn't make any sense...the Russian people choose Russian law, not French or American people.
World: We going to boycott your sh*t because you aren't a real democracy and limit freedom!
Russia: But this is what our people wanted...

"Democracy" doesn't mean you just smile and nod with whatever the people voted for. A whole bunch of people voted for the US government with the security apparatus that has the rest of the world reaching for the smelling salts. Non-violently protesting another nation's (democratically decided) decisions seems perfectly appropriate.

Russia isn't a "democracy" in any sense at this stage, certainly not in the manner that would apply to the US or most EU countries. Oh or the US's hat, I forget there's a country up there sometimes.

Terrible beer, too. You'd think what with all the time they have to spend indoors it wouldn't suck, but no. Low standards I guess. I believe that's part of the second verse of "Oh Canada". "our low standards regarding beer....true polite acceptance of less than we'd hoped for with quiet internal discomfort!"

There is some pretty terrible beer here, but there are some amazing craft breweries, which are finally getting good distribution. I wish it were as widespread as the US Though, you certainly have lots of terrible beer, but there is a lot more good beer available as well

I imagine this includes Unions of States, or Confederations of Provinces too?

It was amusing when the US invented the whole "OMG! Russia is bad to gays!" thing in order to avoid the G8 on a pretense other than Snowden. It's absurd that some people have latched onto this BS to the point of actually seriously suggesting anyone at all boycott the Olympics. This is the tail wagging the dog, big time.

I'd take people's outrage over something like this a whole hell of a lot more seriously if they didn't have to be told about it in the first place. It's like "I care about X, but not enough to actually find out where/when/if it's going on". Yeah, couch potato activism at its finest!

Let's consult the chart:

"Gay rights issue raised" let's see oh here we are "Gay people's fault" Wait that doesn't seem right. Oh wait, here's an asterisk I missed previously "*'Obama's fault' may be substituted for any rationale at any time".

Now it makes more sense.
