Why not make a nice swanky background, and then compress it as a single layer? You'd need 3 different backgrounds, to support each nation, but you could then mess about with partial transparency, without needing to maintain layers. You could fade an aeril shot of each city (like when you create a new character and you see each cityscape) and blend that with the flag for that nation. Then compress to one layer. And then, job done. Nice background, single layer.

Ok, new question. If you had to choose between the flag and the face, which would you pick?

I'd go with face, as so many of us switch allegiances anyway.

I'm going to go with flag.

No one's character is actually going to look like the image in the stock picture anyway, and I think it would give a sort of lumpy stock ugliness to the image. Contrast it, for example, with the wowsigs, which are pretty neat and concise.

Most people are more interested in your vital stats -- nation, race, rank, jobs -- than in a stock character image that won't resemble you ingame anyway.

That's just my opinion of course, and having both would be nice, but if it's one or the other I vote flag. It's classier looking.

I decided to model it after the WoW sig and make the flag a small icon at the top left next to the name.

Ignore the fonts and such, I just put in default ones cause I don't have the font I had at home on this comp.

That looks sweet!

I like the small flag too...I think it looks better than the larger one.

I doubt it, Rimesume.

Illia told me it had to be 400 x 100, so I had to figure out what to get rid of and I decided the flag was too big anyway, so it seemed like a good solution. Glad you like it Nekovivie!

For windurst instead of having a green gradient background how about a landscape view of Windurst, for example the big tree? It would look alot livelier.

I was in Jeuno so I could only get a Jeuno shot for a 'neutral' one but maybe something like this for the other cities also.

Alright it's pretty crap lol

The final thing would be a cleaner image and a better shot. Just made it in 3 minutes :/

Ok I tried a different approach lol

It can fit a lot more information on it. Possible for people with several jobs/crafts/etc they would like to display.

Here is a new draft:

I got to look at how the WoW sigs are generated and since it'll be the same, it will be up to people to make it readable with the colors they are given. With the font and size you will probably be able to display up to 7 jobs and if you want, all of the crafts you can fit. I have to see how the mission status thing will work since I'm not sure how we can do that from profiles.
