FFXI Sig Images (was forum=10)Follow

The problem with KI is that people usually dont optimize there signatures for the intraweb. Also those are use made signatures. They will be huge and bandwidth hogs by nature.

The admins are trying to create this with as little graphic explosion as possible. No complex background or anything, that way it can be optimized down to where it wont effect anyones bandwidth. If you think you might have problem bandwidth wise cruise the wow forum. Our sigs will be relative to theirs.

I like the Idea of having Name/Server as a default for all sigs, but then being able to choose X number of other things to display, like missions, crafts, jobs and so on.

I think multi sig images/set-ups would be best.
Like one that just shows:

1)Name, LS, Server, job(s). Prety ez, not alot of info. This would alow people who (like me) might have a Long name,longer server name, and a long LS name.

2)Name, LS, Server,job(s),craft

3) Name, LS, Server,job(s),craft, missions.

I know 2 and 3, to many words couldnt be used, but why not abbreviate words then?

A number 3 for me would looke like:

Tsuk, Titan Server, FirstClass Linkshell
ZM14,CoP(CM)4-2,ToAU(TM)25 75DRG,53BLM,40BST,37RDM
Cook 72.3, Fish 32

*i dont go by ************** all the time, so the nick Tsu(k) works. Most of us all already know what ZM, CoP(CM), ToAU(TM) stand for **cm,tm = expansion and mission word(i see it shouted alot by JP playes). Same goes for Crafts, dont need the full word to know the craft.

**able to pikc if it shows your sub or not could help save room/say what other jobs you are.

Titles in the sig could be used,or not..but i know me, my title is never the same for very long.




This could be a drag for someone(s). If you have the face, but wrong hair style ._. I use white hair in my Galka Face..not the black one.
*the pic could be used if wanted, or not. Person could pick (that way if you can't get all the hair, people are not stuck with a face thats not even them.)

Lastly, i think a normal, nothing really there background would be nice too.
You did a great job on the Bas, SAndy, Windy back ground. i like them. But what about people who have rank10 in more then one nation?
Im 10 sandy and 7 bas.
A no specific background could fix that issue.

I like the font you use for the name but its hard to read for the rest of the words below. I'd change it to a san-serif font for clearer readability on the bottom. (ariel, helvetica, geneva, etc)

I made the nation flag larger to stand out more and included the nation name and rank below it to keep that information from being swallowed up by the rest of the content in the banner image. I kept the player name, server name, and nation/rank as a fancy serif font, but changed the other info to a san-serif to make it easier to read.

With the format I created, there is added room for more text below the craft info, or the size of the image can be made smaller to reduce the amount of text space available.

A space saver could also be done by moving the face to overlap the nation flag:

One thing Laifierr, it would be too tall. The limit is going to be 90 pixles, just like the Wowsig sigs, though we may allow them to be somewhat wider as Pikko has shown.

I think a few people are getting the wrong impression here. There is no way we're ever going to be able to measure up to the regular text sigs that the hardcore people have listing all their jobs levels, all their crafts, all their missions, rankings in all nations, what headpiece they wear, etc. I'm thinking maybe the idea of it being just the very basic info has the most potential because it eliminates a lot of the "what to display" problems.

Or another suggestion, is to have layers of the sig transparent, save as .png so most internet explorers should recognize it.

Teh technology to generate the sig images takes a background image, marris it with text in a specific font, then merges the two as a new image. Nonstandard fonts will pose problems.
