I respectfully request that a thread be unlocked. The thread I'm referring to is found at:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10&mid=109202411113174118&page=1

If you will, please read through the thread. It was rated at 4.5 - excellent, and I fail to understand why it was locked. It was a wonderful debate and virtually everyone was being very respectful and considerate of others. Many people thought very highly of the thread, and I don't see how it was harming anything. One person came into the thread and did everything in his power to derail it, but if you read through it completely there were VERY few problems on the whole. Given that it was a thriving, well-received topic and given that only one real troublemaker decided to show up to ruin it, I would request that you please unlock it? I'm not really sure if I'm going about this the right way, as I've never had to contact site admins since I've started coming here, but there you have it. I really think (as do others) that the particular topic in question was an excellent example of what the site COULD be. Healthy debate but little to no name calling, and most people were using the karma system to rate according to content, not to rate people according to viewpoint.

Anyway, thank you for reading this and for allowing me to make my request, and I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time. /bow

I'm sure it was locked because #1, someone came here and asked for it to be, and #2, the thread turned into a flame war.

Saboruto, please keep this topic to one thread.

We have two threads on that specific thread already. The first one with no posts in it that I made yesterday:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3&mid=1092101289148449083&num=0

And the second one, made today, which is active and has people already posting in it. It's also more on-topic concerning whether it should be locked/buried or not:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3&mid=10921940956428322&num=14

Please keep this in mind in the future.

I agree that the thread did ultimately turn into a flame war, but that was the doings of the person who requested it be locked. Nobody else in 500 posts had wanted it locked. So a person can go into a topic, disrupt it beyond all proportion, and then have the topic locked because he managed to start a flame war? I fail to see how that's fair or just.

It may not be fair or just, it's just the way it is.

Simply not true, you were the only one flaming people on 1/2 the pages. And it was off topic!

I do agree that it shouldnt have been locked, just moved!

My request was here:

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. Like I said, I don't know how this forum works, so I wasn't sure if you had to make a new post to put in a call to the moderators for each issue? Please forgive me, I don't mean to be a pest. I just thought that since this is a separate issue ("please unlock the thread", instead of "please lock the thread") it would have to have a separate topic? I swear I'm really not this blonde in real life. ^_^

<sigh> One of the most interesting conversations I've ever had on the internet, killed by a troll who got rewarded for his trolling. Well, I won't hold my breath but if the moderators see fit to unlock it, I would be appreciative. After all, after 500+ posts it had an "excellent" rating, so clearly SOMEONE thought it was worthwhile.

Sorry but you need to drop it already, there is one troll in the thread, and that was you. Get over it, make the post again in the OFF TOPIC forums where it belongs.

And by the way, sock puppets rated it up, it was not liked.

Good day...

I'm not getting into a fight with you. Everyone else in the topic agreed that you were the one trolling. Everyone else was well behaved, until you came in to turn it into a flame war, and then you got REWARDED for being an *** by getting your way when you asked for it to be locked. What more do you want, to kick me while I'm down? You've already ruined my thread, the fascinating conversations therein, and my entire day. I'm not going to respond to anything else you post again until you decide to be a little more mature about it. In the meantime, my request to the moderators stands.

There you go again with the sockpuppets!

I'm really, really sorry to be such a slavedriver, but can an admin PLEASE explain to Daluin that more than oen rate-up or rate-down does NOT mean there's a sock puppet?

"Everyone"?

ROFL...

You and CBD (and his puppets) is everyone?

I know this is hard for you, but READ all 12 pages, count the number of times YOU were abusive to someone who didnt agree with you! I don't even enter the thread with comments asking to close it until the 11th page!

All the pages from 2-12 are filled with religion and gay bashing, it did NOT belong in the FFXI forum.

If you arent smart enough to see this, then I really do feel sorry for you!

PS: Nice work though, your troll post did make 12 pages.

100 rate-ups or rate-downs would not a sickpuppet necessarily be. Karma campin for sure, but sockpuppet, I believe there is a better definition for it.

You didn't even read the entire post, it was made very apparent by your whole 'full of religion and gay bashing.'

CBD, if they wanted to they could cross reference the IP addresses for all the accounts here. And when they did, dynamic IP's and proxy servers aside, they can easily see who is loggin on more than one account here. And if they did, they would see that I only use one account.

Weird, but on pages 9-10 (and even page 2-5) I see plenty of it.

Even with Dynamic IPs, they would still share an address range. Not hard for the admins to connect the dots from there. You can ask them to check the IPs, they probably won't, but you can still ask.

Is it 2-5, 2-12, or 9-10? You seem to contridict yourself.

You're the only one here accusing someone else of having a sockpuppet.

The post was FILLED with stuff that did not pertain to the game in any way shape or form, and you know it.

Thing is, you don't make the rules here, neither do I. And the forums are moderated based around content that is appropriate for the target audience.

This isn't an open forum to discuss RL topics such as how gays are treated in religion and politics.
