...who would it be?
This comes to me because that Keanu Reeves "Day the Earth Stood Still" version is on, and I think it would be a good flick if Jaden Smith's character was simply deleted. He's awful. Ruiner and usurper and dumb whiner.
Then I'm reminded of Newt in Aliens 2, which is only not a perfect flick due to her screeching and general being and Ripley turning from bad-*** to motherly trope etc. Completely unnecessary character, though badass on her own. No value.
Then I'm reminded of every movie John Leguizamo has been in, all of which would get at least a half-star more rating if a different actor was cast (yes, even "Carlito's Way").
Also reminded of Nick Nolte in "Hulk" whose character was terrible. Out of tone, appearance, and just sucked. Never though much of Nolte though.
Also, Ramona Flowers in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World". Why bother even trying to win such a cold, cold heart? Never read the comics but either she was a cold fish/sociopath, or the actress sucked at representing someone anyone should care about.
Also...any suggestions of the greatest acting talent disparity between actors in any film would be appreciated. Only one that comes to mind presently is Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. James Earl Jones in "Conan the Barbarian".
Or maybe also, though this may be to my first point as to which actor/character to delete, would be the awful, annoying Chris Tucker character vs. Ian Holm and Gary Oldman in "The Fifth Element" (may be to first because Tucker may be a good actor; but just rather an awful character). And Oldman kind of sucked in that too. But other disparity: Oldman vs. Keanu Reeves in "Bram Stoker's Dracula". I love Keanu, his generosity and energy, but that disparity was a bit apparent. Don't want him deleted though. How about any in the Star Wars prequels vs. Ian McDiarmid, Christopher Lee, Jimmy Smits, and Ewen McGregor.
Did you see Winona Ryder in that dress? It was see-through.
Final thought: Which actors have surprised you? Not sure if I've ever heard a Lady Gaga song except for that Moulin Rouge and Poker Face, but she was great in the latest American Horror Story season. Stunningly and shockingly. Meatloaf was great in Fight Club. And there isn't even a way to list how many rappers have turned in excellent performances, so not too surprising anymore. Hope you humans are having a nice summer.
