I'm severely allergic to cats and dogs so we're getting a bunny. We've scoped out a breeder.

Anyone have experience with bunnies? Suggestions for things like training, housing etc?

Keep it away from Joph.

Rabbits are kind of like cats, in that they really don't care enough to be trained to do much of anything. You can kind of trick them into litterbox training if you put food in the litterbox for them to munch on.

I remember reading once that they were prone to panicking themselves to death if they can't hide from a predator, so it's recommended to have somewhere they can get cover if you keep them outside where owls and such can get near the cage.

Get checked for rabbit allergies before you get one, too.

I am fine with cats and dogs. I am deathly allergic to bunnies. We found this out after my parents got me a bunny.

But yeah, they can be litter trained. You'll probably want two as a pair so they don't get lonely. You need to trim their claws, I think; if they don't have something to dig, their claws can get too long. Same thing with their teeth. If you aren't feeding them the bunny equivalent of a raw diet and you're going for rabbit food instead, make sure to give them some wood or something to chew on so they can keep their teeth whittled down.

If you're keeping it outside it should have a hutch and a run. No matter what you do, your rabbit can probably dig its way out of its enclosure if it wants to. If you're keeping it in a hutch inside, make sure you let it out for a good while every day.

You can't train rabbits to do anything, including training them not to do things like chew your furniture etc.

I'd get at least two bunnies. One bunny seems so lonely.

Not allergic to bunnies. From what I'm reading they can indeed be trained to do things. Fairly simple to litter train as well.

Mostly be inside but probably be outside quite a bit in the summer so I'll probably build a chicken wire enclosure of some sort with a box to hide in for the back yard in the spring.

We actually have wild bunnies that hop around our backyard in the summer.

First I got a bunny. Then I got another bunny. Doesn't one plus one make two?

Seriously hilarious. They are chasing each other around the living room. Ferret runs after him, he runs away in a giggle fit, turns around chases ferret in a giggle fit, repeat.

I had a pair of ferrets named Fuoco and Ghiaccio. I got used to not being able to find things I was looking for after a while. The few hours they were awake I had to keep an eye on them. And they were ridiculously picky eaters.

Aren't ferrets the ones that can die if they don't have sex? I want to say that was a thing.
