I get my copy of Skyrim today! I ordered it off Amazon as soon as it came up for preorder. So frickin' excited! It should be here any minute. I just checked my shipping and it is in town, now just gotta wait for it to get here. I have played all the Elder Scrolls and this one looks better than all of them combined. You can kill dragons and get married and become a werewolf! The graphics look beautiful too.

Anyone else getting in on this?

I'm not sure I've ever been this excited for a game before, lol.

Getting it for the brat, not that he deserves it or anything, though I bet I will end up playing it too.

I'm more excited about Skyward Sword myself. Just 9 more days!

I bought the Arkham city Video card I'll download it soon. Spending my time playing World of Tanks right now. It's kind of fun getting
blown up.

Well, I'll have to beat it normally, then go for the 100%, then do 3 heart challenge, then play it again... So I'll get plenty of playtime out of it regardless.

Not impossible, but horribly masochistic.

I know. My only point is that I think I'd rather stab myself with pins than attempt a 3-heart challenge.

It's worse. It's like playing Demons souls naked, using only your fist for a weapon...

Yeah, I know the feeling. I'm paying for Skyrim by shaving $10 off my weakly food budget for the next 6 weeks. I'm fortunate, though.

Was your 360 at least still under warranty?

No it was an old one. I got it in 2008 or something. Impressive it's lasted this long, tbh. I'm convinced it's because I never connected it to Live, though.

Skyrim needed to install an update on it. The update installed and then almost immediately afterwards I got the red ring.


My cousin said I can have his spare one, I just need to find the time to go to his house in London to get it.

I'm not getting any error code, though. I never have. It's just three red flashing lights. There's no problem with the power supply as far as can tell. So from what I've read online that means it's f*cked.

That really sucks Nil, sorry.

I know the modern 360s are way better where the failure rates are concerned, but I'm still afraid to get one because of the RRoD.

I don't actually hate the Canterbury Tales. The language can be annoying, but many of the plots are pretty damn enjoyable.

Hell, I've read a lot of British LEGAL documents for my history classes. So I'm becoming increasingly immune to this stuff. :P

I tried Skyrim on the PC yesterday and didn't like it at all with keyboard/mouse. Is this one of those things where I really ought to have a controller?

Aside from a couple minor issues, I think keyboard and mouse is just fine.

My main monitor is a 32" HDTV.

And frankly, while the performance is definitely best on PC, with the amount of crashes the game is prone to, I don't blame someone for choosing console at this point. Now, once those issues are fixed, and once there are mods out, then yes. PC is the way to go.

Playing on PS3 here. It's been a pleasantly bug-free experience for me thusfar. No freezing, no glitches, nothing.

There's one minor irritation though. The 'radial' menu seems to not work if my analog stick is slightly off-center when I open it. I have a really old pair of controllers whose sticks don't always center properly after being let go. So I have to fiddle with the analog to make sure that it's properly centered before the menu can be operated.

This is also a minor issue with lockpicking, which seems overly sensitive. The slightest touch on the analog causes the 'lockpick' action (the one to actually open the lock). Sometimes my analog sticks will stay slightly in the direction that I last moved them. So when I try to open the lock and fail, breaking the pick, on the next pick, the stick will sometimes still be off-center, causing me to accidentally try, and insta-fail, another pick attempt.

Of course, I realized yesterday that I've probably been playing most of the game with a disease that affects lockpicking. So that might have had something to do with it. But why I wasn't given any clue about having the disease (I found it by chance after checking out that section of the menu), I don't get. There should be a visible effect on your character, or clear text indicator.

I wonder how long I've been running around with random diseases affecting my character.

They tell you when you get the disease, and if you look at the skill menu you'll see that the skill is reduced. So even if you don't check the actual spells section, there are alerts.

Just getting in the habit of hitting a shrine whenever you are in a city might be a good idea. Though it's always good to check your diseases after fighting vampires (and werewolves?).

I have become a Skyrim widow. I bought Ray the Collector's Edition for the PS3 and surprised him by picking it up earlier than he was planning to. Thought I'd get some bonus sex for that. Nope.

For a hundred and sixty bucks that statue better have a vibrating hole in it.

In other news, I R level 15. I keep getting distracted by passing quests and dungeons. I've only just finished my first full shout after something like 20 hours.
