I'm not quite drunk yet, but tipsy enough that I, perhaps, shouldn't make a thread.

But I am. Yay for making bad decisions while drinking!!

So my husband is in Hawaii and I'm still in Tennessee. It's been a month and a half since I've seen him, and that was only for a week. I leave in a month and a week to join him, and I'm starting to get... apprehensive. I'm going, no doubt about that. I don't know how many people get this chance. But I'm so terrified about leaving my friends and family. It's going to be so hard...

So. Now that I'm officially getting tipsy (and probably good and drunk by the time the night is over) alone, am I an alcoholic...? Smiley: frown

Nah, I wouldn't say that makes you an alcoholic.

That's a crazy amount of time to have to stew over it. It'd probably have been easier on you if it was one of those whirlwind things and you moved right away, when he did. But at least with modern networking outlets, it's really easy to keep in touch with friends and family long-distance. Plus you give them all an exotic location to have a reason to visit!

Part of it is my fault, part of it timing. I really want to stay here until Thanksgiving because we have family coming down from MI, which NEVER happens. I want to be here for that.

And I wanted to give work enough time to get used to me leaving. I was there for eleven years. I'm hard to replace.

Of course, I could've just been there for a month and I'd be hard to replace. Smiley: grin

And I'll probably drink way too much tonight. I just found that they think my cousin has Crohn's disease. Smiley: frown Sad.

You're not an alcoholic until you automatically fix yourself a screwdriver for breakfast.

Ok, then as a rule of thumb, if there is more Baileys than coffee in your Irish coffee, then you're probably an alcoholic.

My husband's been gone since mid-August. I don't have much to talk about in that department, because I'm not a dirty *****. Smiley: frown

Why are tipsy threads never about cow tipping?

People who say drinking alone makes you an alcoholic probably support prohibition and Jesus.

You're moving to Hawaii?! Geez I need to catch up!

Irish coffee has no Bailey's in it. It's Irish whiskey, sugar and coffee. Smiley: schooled

Every time I've ordered an Irish coffee, they've floated heavy cream on it.

Baileys makes a whipped cream that I've used occasionally.

Hmm.. I could have sworn they did but I can't seem to find it on the internet. Maybe it was a generic Irish cream-flavored whipped topping or something.

Cream, yes. If you're ever in the San Francisco area, you should go to the Buena Vista and have one. It's a little cliche and touristy, but they make a really good one.

Yes, usually they have whipped cream on them. I just pointed out the sugar because I've known people that try to make their own just using Irish whiskey and coffee. Blech. Gotta cut some of that whiskey taste just a tad.
