Instruments? :: EverQuest

I dont have the game yet (hopefuly for christmas(with my new computer*yay*)) but i am trying to decide on what exactly i want to do. I think a Bard/Red Mage sounds like a lot of fun...but i wnat to know something very important. Can you atack with an instrument? Does it do any good, and if not coulde you say Enthunder it and be good? Will a Bard/Red Mage ever be any good in melee?

I don't want to get to entirely in depth with this see'n as how you haven't got the game yet, but Your bard is a very busy class which means you won't always have a whole lot of time to do any melee damage, your best bet is to enhance the warriors and the mages that will be doing the damage, and if there is any time left over then you can go and whack it a few times, but no they don't attack with the instruments.

But the instruments allow you to cast more than one song at a time, which is extremely useful.
