Shield skillup questionFollow
I'm 20 points away from cap on my shield skill (404 before merits and gear), and skillups on Hannequets in Aby-Attohwa seemed to drop off significantly after about 400 skill, even with eating montagna. Is there somewhere else I should go that will get me to cap faster?
The chigoes in same area is 2-4 levels higher than the mandragoras and stil hit fairly fast, other than that you just gotta grind it out or let it cap naturally on NMs etc.
Also Maringna is better suited for food.
Edit: 2-4 levels higher than the mandragoras max level.

Mandies at Abyssea Altepa 06 will cap at a higher level (100 in Heroes zones instead of 95 in Scars zones). They still might need to be killed a bit before they actually get that high; if they check DC-T you're in business.
You could still cap in a Scars zone, but it will be tougher because the mobs (the NQ ones, at least) will not go over 95.

I didn't know about the Maringna, but once I got some, I went back to the Hannequets and capped out in about an hour. Got a few unexpected 0.4 & 0.5 parry skillups as well.

I tried those after I stopped getting skillups in Attohwa, but there were two things working against me: some guy kept rounding them up to kill them (presumably to get NM pop items), and I had a bad run-in with the NM cactuar. He gave me great skillups until I ate about 35,000 needles in one shot.

Yeah, you'd wanna avoid the cactus (I never had trouble with it, since he's kinda tall and easily noticed). And although there are people who AoE those mandies because they're plentiful and easy to train, it isn't happening all the time.
If you do aggro Cuijatender somehow, it's possible to just run like hell and deaggro it, because he stops to cast stuff.
This was the spot I used to cap my own shield skill, which took about 40 minutes to gain about 150 levels... Ochain is a beast >______>
