Seriously, though, the more I think about this, the more it irks me. Aegis is already pretty much capping MDT now. Increasing MDT won't help in the slightest, unless they up the cap while using Aegis or put it in its own Magic Damage Taken component in the formula. A CE cap raise would certainly help, but I think I finally agree with others who think that it might be too much. Instead, as a compromise, give PLD a VE cap increase (it seems to be what we specialize in, anyway), but have any VE over the normal cap decay faster. It would be nice if it scaled with level, as well, so that we could get more out of it as we got higher in level, thus helping hold hate longer against the DD's. As VE, we couldn't maintain it nearly as well as a CE cap would do. It might even be possible to add in a CE cap increase as a new merit category when we hit 99 - each merit increases cap by 500 or so, but the ability only lasts for 30 seconds per upgrade. Assuming similar patterns in the new merits, we could get something that was usable every 10 minutes and would increase the cap by 2500 for 2:30. Would be overkill, sure, but I can think of a number of people that would at least put some points into it.
I'm still disappointed that SE hasn't come through for PLD. It was the first job I fell in love with. And yet, despite the nostalgia, I think MNK is going to hit 90 before PLD does. And it was 37 as of a week ago.
