Magic merits dilemmaFollow

I have both SCH and BLU at 75, and I find myself using them both for a variety of events.

I don't do any HNM stuff really, mostly Limbus, Nyzul/Assault, exp parties, missions/quests/ZNMs in lowman situations.

I'd like to save 5 magic merits for Blue Magic if possible, leaving me with 11 merits to divide on enfeebling/elemental.

For now I'm at 7 enfeebling, 3 elemental, 0 blue magic. Should I spend my merits on 5 blue magic 1 more enfeebling, 5 blue magic 1 more elemental, or do I need full elemental/enfeebling so much that I should completely scrap blue magic until SE ups the maximum allowed for this merit category ?

Enfeeb and Elemental generally will do more for the jobs that use them (BLM, SCH, and RDM) than other magic merits will for any other jobs.

All in all, it depends how much you plan to use each job and for what, but by making a thread on the SCH forums, the vast majority of the responses you'll get are gonna say 8/8 enfeeb and elemental >_>

It would depend which you like more I'd say. You don't do much HNMs, so you can generally go less on elemental and not get hurt as much. I'd go 8 enfeebling, enough blue magic skill to hit the 300 Base Damage tier, so at least 5 merits in it with AF body, 3 merits with Relic Head and AF body. Then whatever left over into elemental magic.

This might make you have to full time items like Elemental Torque, or AF body if you end up fighting something more resistant then normal, but it'll keep both your blu and your sch readily available.

I think that says it all right there. Ellatrix has a variety of casters at 75, including BLU and still recommends the same merits as everyone else here. That suggests that Blue Magic merits may not have quite the impact you expect or that Enf/Ele merits are superior. In any case, it's well worth levelling them both because it fills a small gap in our elemental skill and gives us A rank enfeebles.
