Since I was doing ASA avatar fights, I decided to "cheat" and used mini fork to warp myself and also do the real Prime Avatar fight at the same time. Mini forks saved travel time a lot, and I got 50k+60k gils.
I never did Prime Avatar fight on SMN solo before, so I don't know how well can SMN solo Prime before the update. I used favor on all fights because MP concern. Since I got free Garuda, I did Titan with only one siphone and nothing else. 70 mp left when fight was over.
The rest, I had to siphone twice, use 2-3 Hi-ether (50mp each). On Garuda and Levi because of their healing, I think I used about 3-5 Hi-ether. MP left at win ranged from 40(garuda)-180ish(Ifrit).
I wonder if Favor made Prime solo as SMN easier, or the weakened damage and MP saving about even out?

Avatar solo fight easier with Favor?Follow
Favour would likely make things a lot harder, consider this:
Your avatar is doing ~15% less damage, and does not benefit from its own favour, thus all the ability is doing is giving perpetuation -2.
In short, using a yagudo drink would be better than bothering with Avatar's Favour in this scenario.

Ethers huh? Were you using /WHM by any chance?
If so, consider using /SCH for avatar solos from now on. With both Elemental Siphon and Sublimation, I have never found the need for meds during prime solos, ever.
hmm next time i will try no Favor and compare. If /whm and no favor, I wonder if the mp would be a bigger issue.
Yes I was sub /whm (normally I actually go /sch) because I wanted the fast travel in doing 6 avatar fights one after another without spending too much time on the road.

Depends on the strategy you use.
I used to do the good old kiting one, which worked fine even before siphon and meant I never restored MP even once and still won before time out.

The fight may take a little bit longer because your doing less damage, but if you get your avatar to 0 perp cost, it seems easier, because your never struggling with MP.

Oh silly me, I never thought of this while doing the fight. Of course I could have taken the free garuda out and wait till the third siphone timer is up. That way with 3 siphones I'd not need those meds at all.
Carby kite would work too I guess, but I assume carby won't last as long and requires more recast. Wonder if that would create too bad a hate situation for myself.
Of course with /sch, it'd be even easier.

use your favorite avatar and bp away, this can be garuda, even against shiva.
Elemental siphon when possible (make sure to be far away)
Carby kite when you're out of mp. win.
on Leviathan, Garuda:
1: BP away with your favorite avatar, like the others, elemental siphon when ready, to recover mp. When you're low on mp DON'T carby kite. They both have healing moves that will recore their hp much faster than lolcarby can handle.
Summon Thunder Spirit for Leviathan and Ice Spirit for Garuda. Use astral flow and enjoy the show. Resummon when needed. If the Spirit doesn't blast it to death, resummon the avatar and do some final BP's.
During astral flow spirits deal dmg without using mp, avatars will still consume mp. Spirits will also cast faster and use "better" nukes. Win
2: start with carby kiting, until the avatar is at 50%, it won't heal itself much when it's hp is high. at 50% switch to a stronger avatar and bp. you'll have enough mp to BP it to death. If not, you can always use the spirit and astral flow.

I recently solo'd all the avatar fights. I found that it was far easier to do the fights using avatar's favor. MP was much less of an issue and still had plenty of time left on the clock at the end of the fight.

Using favor will make the fight take ~15% longer but time constraints have never been an issue with my solos. This would in no way make it harder, just slower. The easier MP management saves on money and increases the amount of bloodpacts you can do without having to worry about MP constraints. Add in sub /SCH and it becomes even easier. Although I would personally not bother with using favor being a Taru with /SCH it would definitely make it easier for some people.

Here's another tip for these fights if you have a lot of Fields of Valor notes (especially if you're going /WHM; personally, I go /BLM for the warp after the fight). You can get the FoV Refresh, which is a good +1 tic Refresh for a full hour! That's enough to usually do two avatars within that time frame (3 if you push it and get a routine down) without losing the Refresh effect. Mixed with the Favor and the FoV Refresh, that's an extra -3 perpetuation cost.

If your gear is a bit lacking and you're finding them to be more of a challenge with any old sub, remember that on top of sublimation, /sch gives you both aspir and drain, which can be used pretty effectively on many things. Unsure their effectiveness on avatars, but at lvl 70 I can drain for 170-200 in FOV and campaign. My whm seems to get similar returns on harder mobs.
When comparing favor you need to see what the difference in perp cost is for you, since -2 is relatively more of an increase the closer to a free avatar you get. Using favor is basically -15% damage on BPs for 120 mp, so it would depend on how long the fights are taking and how much damage the pacts are doing as to whether or not you would want to use it, but chances are you're best off by keeping Favor up.
Don't forget that you should be able to use Favor opposite of how mnk's use Footwork, so every 5 minutes you could use a full strength BP by canceling then immediately reapplying Favor. If you're not BPing every 45~55 seconds anyways, this could be your best plan of attack.
