FFXIV stopped working out of no where ; ;Follow

Hello, I've been playing FF14 for now for about 3 weeks or so. Recently after the update I can now play for only about 10 to 15 mins then this error comes out.

ffxivgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

and when I searched to see what the problem was it said this error occurred.

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\389a_appcompat.txt

Really don't know what the problem is or how to fix. It happened out of no where I was playing fine and then the game crashed, my screen went black for a few seconds then the CPU restarted. Now it just lets me play for ten to fifteen mins then closes. Computer doesn't restart though, and I start playing again for another 10~15 and repeat but really I hope someone can help me =/ cause gonna suck I invested in a computer to play and now this.

Have you already updated to the latest video drivers?

yes , I believe so; I downloaded the latest catalyst driver they had available. The game worked fine for the past two ~ three weeks and all of a sudden is messing up now =/ .

sounds like something is overheating or your power supply is finally giving in to the strain it's under when FF14 pushes everything to max load.

Well I can run Starcraft too just fine so I dont think the graphic card overheated; Maybe the power supply. Is there anyway for me to know for sure without just going out to buy a new one?

download and run speedfan and check for overheating to start. Power supply could theoretically be the issue, but starcraft is just as graphics intensive assuming you are talking about the new one, so I'd lean away from that being the issue. Possibly excessive hard drive fragmentation, maybe run a disk defrag job. that would likely only be the case if you were locking up in the same exact spot every time.

What seems more likely to me is you running out of system resources, FFXIV might need more system ram than Starcraft, and if you have windows media center attempting to catelogue all your MP3 files every so often and are running into that error where wmpnetwrk.exe ends up eating most of your available ram, that might be enough to trigger the crash. Next time it crashes, press Ctrl Alt Del to get to task manager and see what other processes are running, and see if any of them are taking significant amounts of ram or CPU. Also check the Event logs.
