I know you won't, but imagine if those Occ. Attacks X times are for trials of the whatsit and you could put them on a ra/ex lance.

I guess if you REALLY need that ammo slot when using love halberd >_>

I know everyones all goo goo eyed at the shadowlord gear, but considering its probably WotGs AV/Pandy warden or will require allies to own all the northland/castle zones or some other completely rediculous pre-reqs i really just cant get to excited about our ares-homam-aberk fusion because I doubt these will be remotely accessible to anyone for years to come.

The +6stat/+3 related stat, exp ring and teleport items are really the only thing im mildly excited about.

That and trial of magians. I am dying to see if they put this nwe augment-ish system together well.

Great, another useless mercurial weapon good only for capping skill. >.< These things are fun to play around with for about an hour, then you realize how useless they really are. Oh well, every other weapon has a multi-hit, might as well have added the spear.

Just get your hands on one as soon as possible, sell it for 10 million gil, then buy it back in 2 months when its only 1 million. :)

Looks to me like the SL fight will be 1-6 player fights... if this is true, I have a feeling that we'll need to be 99 :P

But seriously, if they make this possibel for a well geard group of 6 to do... I think I will fly over and kiss someone at SE... I don't care if the fight is insane, as long as I can eventually beat it with my close friends I will be happy.

Well now hold on everyone, people are underestimating this spear.

Remember: Level cap increase > Uncapped skills > Likely lvling in Lvl Sync parties for part of the climb > Uncapped skill at new level cap > great weapon to cap off that skill!

Mercurial Spear would be OK for /Dnc if you don't have Halberd.
For...whenever you would actually go /Dnc.
Which is just about never for most everyone.

It probably seemed like a good idea to them at the time at least.
I would use it if I had it, as I do /Dnc sometimes(My HB rule is not working in "spell~that which shall not be named" at the moment, so it's all I can do until it works).

Maybe it will have a nice looking model at least, and not end up as the Bronze Spear I'm sure it will be.

Was mentioned in the main thread, but it seems like the Occ.X Hits augments will most likely end up only working on the weakest looking of the weapons, and not on the higher base ones. Dmg:87 Delay:492 lance with Occ.Attacks 2-4 times might be just a little broken at the moment.

Shadowlord gear looks awesome, but I'm never going to get any of it, so, bleh.

I'm more excited about being on Cerb tonight then I am about any piece of gear in this update.

Damage type seems unlikely as an augment option to me. Would be cool if it was an option though.


Though, I can't think of a single use for a slashing polearm. Nothing I can think of is weak to slashing, and resistant to piercing or blunt.

Pretty underwhelming for DRG. Nocturnus will be for the super-high-elite and we didn't even get a badass Campaign Lance with Campaign WS. Rings could be nice if not too difficult to obtain.

Yeah, as someone who already owns ares and hecatomb bodies, the new body doesn't overly thrill me. Considdering I just got a champions galea last month, the hat doesn't knock my socks off either. Basically just the stat rings, teleport rings (I'm lazy) and what they're gonna do with the magian (stupid word) lances...

The new hat is basically a Gnadbod's Helm +1.

Unlikely it will beat heca, which really isn't that hard to obtain (go sit in aery. Almost all large linkshells sell it for around 2mil, could get it cheaper if yo're lucky).

So, trial of the magians. You get the base weapon out of the box next to the moogle, and you can look through all of the currently available quests and their resulting weapons. I've only looked through a few, but the highlights of what I've found for DRG so far?

Oathkeeper
DMG 99 Delay 492

Bradamante
DMG 76 Delay 507
Occasionally Attacks Twice

These were both at final points on branches down the Ranesur > Copperhead path. There was a decent Stribog result too, but these are the ones that stuck out fo me before I logged for the night. There's a TON of branches I haven't fully explored yet, but there's possibly some more gems hidden out there. By final, I mean once reaching the weapons as I have them listed above there are currently no further quests to add anything else to them. Also, as I said by branches, depending on the quests you pick you'd get entirely different results, but there are specific quests to choose to end with those results. When the system gets expanded in June these can only get better, assuming further expansions for them are added.

The actual upgrade process involves getting some number of kills on a specified mob family(from mobs that give exp) or NM while using the weapon to be upgraded, making the Bradamante branch a pain because the initial Bradamante after you get it from the Copperhead is only DMG44. Anyway. Have fun guys.

Still hoping V. Fork will be upgradeable come June, but if not I guess I'll live.

Oh, initial upgrades for relic and mythic are in already, and god are they brutal. Each of them currently looks to get two, all of them seem to be DMG upgrades, and all of them seem to be generally the same thing: Use the given weapon's associated WS on 1500 exp granting members of a given mob family. The other quests currently there aren't remotely that bad. The results though...after doing two rounds of that (so 3000 total mobs Gungnir/ryunohige holders, get cracking) you could have a Gungnir with DMG107. Can't remember the end DMG result for Ryunohige, but you get the idea.

ok ive sifted through a lot of the paths on Dagger/Polearm and its really a very straightforward system for these weapons and they all have the same type of output.

For both dagger and polearm its basically starts with one weapon and splits off a few times to various results in the final upgrade of that branch.

1: Slow weapon+big base damage (dagger=D38/Del201. Lance=D99/Del507)
2a: "Strong" 2xatk weapon (2xAtk dagger:D31/Del211. 2xatk Lance:D76/Del507)
2b: "weak" 2xatk weapon (2xAtk dagger=D18/Del211. 2xatk Lance:D44/Del507)
3: Elemental properties. All 8 elements have a branch and each element has 3 "mini" branches.

Lance elements are +4 in corresponding base stat and 3 variations. One adds char stats +15, second adds pet stats+12-15, 3rd adds en-effect. EG:

Fire tree:
Fire1=D92/Del480/Str+4/Atk+15
Fire2=D92/Del480/Str+4/PetAtk+15 PetRatk+15
Fire3=D95/Del492/Add effect "Weakens Atk+10"

It just takes Str/Atk (fire element stats) and has 3 ways to represent fire. Lightning does dex/acc/Petacc/Lower mob acc. Wind Agi/Eva/peteva/lower mob eva etc etc for all 8 elements.

The other weapons may have a different set of stats with the elements, but there will by 8 elements and 3 branches of each. The dagger ones cater towards the mages more however.

Most melees will be concerned with the strong/weak DA options (the strong one has harder fight requirements). However, the "big damage" ones are also very promising. The lance is D99/Del507 which is insane. Dagger is a D38/Del201 which is pretty crazy damage like a faster Pharpe. But the "good" DA versions are just droolworthy.

We just got a love halberd on steroids (D 76/Del 507/OccAtk Twice)and all we can think about is wyvern HP? different strokes for different folks i suppose.
