FAQ Read before starting a threadFollow

I think this is pretty needed at this point we are answering the same questions every other day and it is interfering with our regular discussions. To avoid hurting the newbs (the flamezorz) it’s my hope that if they read this they will avoid posting crap we’ve answered countless times in the past.

First let me say if there is any thing you think I should add just tell me about it and id be happy to amend/add to this thing. I want this to completely cover our of all problems or their problems w/e.

So lets dive right in:

"The status of {Insert wyvern name here} status parameters have increased"
This will happen every time you gain 200xp your wyvern basically gains a mini level, his hp goes up and so does his attack power. Since his hp goes up you can heal for more when your /mage and have DD breaths do more when /Sam or war.

The effect will stay on your wyvern until you either zone, die, or log out.
It is to be mentioned that this was added quite some time ago but recently edited to give the player a message when his wyvern levels up

Do DRGS get parties slower then any other job?

No DRGs get parties at about the same rate as other DDs. This could be affected by your gear demeanor and or skill. If you are a rude/bad/lazy player then you can eventually expect it to hurt your reputation, that will in turn hurt your XP.

There is nothing wrong with DRG. If there is something wrong with your DRG, I.E. damage or acc I suggest you look for threads on gear or a guide. For a long time DRG had a bad connotation back when our wyvern would die 20 min into a pt and be gone for 2 hours. Im by no means saying we were gimp then but our damage would suffer greatly with out our wyvern. We have been adjusted multiple times, and I really don’t think there is much else they can do. We were fine then and better now.

What Skill Chain should we use?

This one is well above my head there are so many places and so many weapon skills /mobs ill leave it up to my friend alexlucia. He is on my server and a hell of a player. He created this crazy little program just plug and play.

No just lose hate.

But Ket what should we do while waiting for party!!?

Farm. A DRG cant be a good DRG with crap gear. Solo, slow xp but reliable and you get to keep all the drops. Start a craft, one day may be able to make money from it.

Are the jumps stunning spider in ToA?

Yes they are, Jump and High Jump are stunning the Spiders in the ToA areas. Its not a very long stun but it seems to be enough to interrupt w/e it is doing.


Is Jump modified by AGI DEX VIT

Jump seems to have a 50% VIT mod on it. Although it needs more testing this seems to be the newly accepted rule.

Why isn’t /WAR giving me healing breath???

That would be because /WAR isn’t a defensive sub job. WHM BLU BLM RDM are the most generally accepted defensive subs. I like /WHM but that’s just me.

Which is the best DD sub for xp?!!!


The most damaging job you can sub is Warrior. Although subbing SAM is perfectly acceptable it is also heavily situational. If your tank sucks and cant keep hate then sub SAM your over all damage will suffer but at least your party will run smoother. I for one don’t accept /NIN as good sub. The change to super jump and SAM is more then enough of a defensive revamp to hold us all over if sh*t hits the fan.

Hey!!! Hasso is transferring to my wyvern why do you guys say it doesn’t work!!!

Well after about 3 days of deliberation we have come to the conclusion that our wyverns don’t use two handed weapons thus aren’t affected by the buff even though it is transferred.


Which polearm should we use at 60 Dark Mezzy(looks hawt)or Grand Knights Lance (awsome.)

It has been decided that GKL is better then Dark Mezzy because a few points of STR and an additional effect does

*not*

take priority over 7 acc (a snipers ring +1 on your weapon)

Well I’ve had a request to add this to the sticky, and since it is a big aspect of end game it just made sense. I was thinking of just adding a general what-to-merit guide but after thinking about it I’ve realized that a player should merit himself depending on what he likes to do. I will be incorporating HNM SOLO and DD just three topics but one can mix and match to his liking.

fixed/added i wont take down the WAR=THF thing because to many people believe it. I accually dont and i always sub war but it isnt to my opinion its populart vote :p

Nice decent guide. Might want to include some info on endgame and percieved lack of utility. Angon is a god send for this etc...

Doesn't really answer the question. /WAR doesn't give healing breath because it's a pure-melee job and gives you an offensive wyvern.


This really can't be answered with one subjob, and I really don't like this section.

In any exp situation, yes, WAR will do the most damage. But does it make it the best? (That was the question.) SAM allows for much much greater damage mitigation while still adding a decent offensive edge over NIN. Unfortunately, efficiency can't be parsed.

Meanwhile, in the majority of endgame events, THF is superior for damage.

Hmm, this reminds me I need to make some updates to mine.

While you couldn't parse efficiency as such, you could compare both the damage output of both /nin and /sam, and the damage taken buy each sub, and try to draw some conclusions from that data. Of course its never going to be an exact reflection, but it would work for personal refrence at least.

(and I guess congratulations are in order for Ketrel finally becoming a scholar, and posting in legible engrish :P, tho I hope its not permanent, I liked the old typing style)

Don't rule out that Jump could be affected by Vit. There are logical reasons why it should, there are also basic starting point evidence that seem to show a rise in damage with added Vit - however only testing samples I've seen have taken a small set of readings so coultn't be held for solid evidence, however it is a starting point. The real question some Drgs are trying to find out now is whether +Vit will have more of a positive effect over basic +Str/Att and if infact the boost from jump damage would be worth macroing Vit in for, or whether the increas would be too small to notice or inpractical because of the loss of Acc pieces you may be marcoing out.

Meh I'll put up a new thread if anything further emerges.

Our Wyverns have Dragon Killer, so I wonder if it's safe to assume they get our Attack Bonus at 10 and Accuracy Bonus at 30...?
