OK, instead of starting another thread, I'll use this one to do my dirty work. I need a meat guide. I'm currently 42 and plan on using meat all the way to 75. I have level 4 gkt merits and pretty good acc gear that only gets better as I'll level. I've been sticking with the basics, meat/chief kabobs, but I'm sure there is more 'potent' stuff out there for the later levels. I checked the sam stickies and only saw meat kabobs and rice balls as food options. I suppose I'm posting this to save myself a little effort doing the research because I know of plenty of good meat dishes but as far as level effectiveness, I do not. If there is a guide out there, would someone please direct me to it? Thanks '-')b
i could rightfully be accused of
spamming this link, but there are few others more useful for melees. it lists all foods in the game and their stats, including what % different meats raise ATT and what the %s cap off at.
note, the full list is at the bottom of the page (i linked directly to the melee ATT foods the creator of the page chose to emphasize). the previous poster mentioned rice dumplings, whose 5ACC (read: 1 sniper's ring worth) bonus is obviously great, and whose ATT bonus tops off at 45 at 225 base ATT. a tip for finding all the ATT foods on the page: go to "edit / find" (ctrl+f)on your browser and search for "Base Attack", as it appears in all and only foods with an ATT bonus.
you can then compare your base ATT in game with the foods you're considering, and if the food is something you've never heard of, you can check
ffxiah.com to see if any have sold recently, and if they're exorbitantly priced (alternatively, you can look the food up on alla-or-anywhere, and see if the ingredients are rare/expensive). of course, the availability of a high level cooking friend/self can influence your food decisions.
when i lv'd monk, i used mithkabobs and chiefkabobs for almost my entire way to 75 (we didn't have sushi in those days of walking a mile uphill to school). i use sushi when it's necessary, though nowadays in merit situations i usually use hedgehog pie or sis kebabi/coeurl sub. i haven't had a pt that merited using red curry in a long time. on SAM i did meat jerky -> rice dumpling -> chiefkabob/sis kebabi, but i often used sole sushi as well (after my brd-inclusive static broke-_-;). it could be fun to try some unconventional meats (e.g. ic pilav, which i've never seen once in-game. it's a better-in-every-respect meat than chiefkabobs, lasts 180min, and was last sold on my server for a cheap 4k only 5 days ago).
heads up though, if you're relying on pickup parties, you will find yourself in situations where eating meat instead of sushi will simply slow your party down. indeed, it's your party's overhunting and not your appropriate dot-maximizing food choice that slowed the pace, but pickup parties are pickup parties, and not adapting maximally to your situation is not adapting maximally to your situation.

as for my latest SAM accomplishment... finally got saotome kote in dyna-bastok after several months:). just need kabuto and i can strut around like a bigshot, like i do on my giant purple dinosaur monk-_-.
