Hey Fish, didn't you used to have a guide on how to use Simcraft around here somewhere? I've been looking for it for like 20 minutes now and I can't find it. >.<

NVM, google is my friend... >.> For some reason I was thinking it was here and not in the general forum.

It's a bit out of date, though. They've made some changes to it, but it still shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

If you've got any questions, I'm more than willing to help.

I already commented on the thread itself in the general forum, but since you actually looked here I guess I can ask here. How do you get SC to show you a BiS gear list? Or does it have that capability? From your guide it sounded like it could give you a gear list for your current gear set up (if that makes sense), or is it just the altered stat weights?

Unfortunately, as far as I know there's no "Give me my best option" button. The gear sets I mention are pre-built into the program. They're basically just the highest ilvl items the creaters saw and threw in there for, I assume, testing purposes. For a BiS gear list for Shadow, there's a nifty thread over on Shadowpriest.com.

Man, my life would be so much easier if it had a "Find the BiS" button.

Yeah, I've looked at that. I don't know if it's of interest to you or not, but a guildie of mine in the one of the raid groups working on heroic modes told me that most of the good theorycrafters for shadow don't post there much anymore, and have helped create howtopriest.com

The shadowpriest PvE guide looks to be about the same though, it's written by the same person.

Hm. Hadn't heard of that website before. Perusing it at the moment.

The Atonement healing strategy made me chuckle.

For 5 mans its PW:S (for Rapture) and ProM on tank when you remember and spam HF/Smite otherwise. Use GH or PoH as needed to heal up DPS. PW:S if they might die of course. Penance the tank when you realize, damn the tank needs Grace I should do that now then spam more Smite. Can also use Penance if DPS stands in fire and needs heals beyond PW:S, Atonement will bring them back up over time, also works to bring the tank up as a side note.

Smite healing with decent gear makes healing heroics a snooze fest. I usually just spam my Smite button with PW:S and ProM on the tank and use PoH to heal others so I don't have to change targets. Heavy healing is PoH spam for the most part so again never need shift targets.

I have a question about using Simulation craft in relation to the discussion in this thread. Do you know if there's a way to test when gaining certain buffs will give the most benefit? Or combined with other buffs?

Basically I'd like to see if it's a bigger bump to my DPS to use synapse springs on CD with a spell macro, or to only cast it with Archangel for the combined buff, giving it a roughly 33% downtime. Can SimulationCraft do that? And if so, how do I go about testing that.
