Well, to be fair that's the magazine's doing, not hers. They all do that sh*t, even to normal models and not celebrities. Apparently only "perfect" women can sell magazines. It's ridiculous, because I would love it if I look that good when I'm 45.

Justin Beiber and Slipknot should do a collaboration. If only for the hilarity.

I spent the day at this place. I really needed that after a week of photoshopping, I feel so clean and relaxed now <3

Also, walking around naked all day is fun.

Yeah, sh*t's expensive. My mom volunteers at the place for some ritual and she gets coupons for free entry so that alone saves €30, being smart about what you eat (and eating plenty beforehand) also cuts down the cost.

Also look for actions and special deals, spas around here tend to have them often and that can make it way more affordable. (Although I'd still expect to pay about €40 per person)

Well, yeah. You've got a point there.
We're going to a blues festival this weekend though, with VIP tickets even. Which her dad gave to us.

I come from a below middle class family and I've lived with mom my whole life (well, untill I moved out anyways), and when her dad gave us the tickets, I was pretty much just thinking ''what the @#%^, I'm not used to this sort of sh*t''

Have you ever tasted your beer? The US is pretty much the place to be for good beer at the moment.

I don't consider myself a beer connoisseur - I usually stick to one that I like. Right now its Sam Adams. Honestly, I don't know how SA stacks up in the eyes of beer critics, but it's a beer that I would go out of my way for. Luckily, it's available at the local supermarket just a few blocks away.

Other than that, for the most part people here seem to like beers like Corona, Coors, etc. For a guy who grew up (my college days) on Rolling Rock, I'm pretty satisfied with my Sam Adams.

A long time ago, when Heineken was the best beer available here, a good friend of mine used to say that after a six of Heineken even Bud tasted good. That was back when Coors refused to sell its beer east of the Rockies and as a result held near mythic status here in New York.

Anyway, that's about all I got when it comes to beer.

Sam Adams Boston Lager is pretty much a gateway beer, SA in general seems to make nice beers that are better than any of the macro lagers by far but don't quite measure up to the better craft brews. Still, it's a beer that both bud drinkers and craft beer geeks will be able to drink together.

What state do you live in? I can probably direct you to some interesting beers worth trying from breweries nearby. Edit: I can recommend Sierra Nevada Pale Ale either way, it's more hoppy than Sam Adams is but it'll still be really accessible and refreshing.

Also, nothing wrong with enjoying a cold one on a hot day, I just prefer that cold one to be something a little more fancy than Heineken. I still won't say no to a Heineken if it's offered to me for free though.

In the past four days, I've seen both silverfish and cave crickets* in my bathroom. I'd take geckos ANY day.

New York State, Long Island to be more specific.

And yeah, there is nothing like a cold beer after some hot yard work.

These things started showing up in my house about ten years ago. I have wondered what the heck they are called, and not knowing how to reverse look-up something from an image that I cannot find since I don't know what the image is called . . . well, I have always wondered.

Thanks for clearing that up.

By the way, if you have any really dark places in your apartment that never see the light, like I have a small crawl space under the stairs and a closet I built in the corner of the garage, don't go in there! I have found over a dozen just sitting there staring at me in both places. Send in the cat first! I don't have a cat, but my daughter's 3 1/2 lb Tea Cup ChiWoWhua hunts them for me.

Yeah, and to think I raised my daughter with a 75lb Boxer in the house. Ahh, those were the days.

My daughter is a dog groomer and Pinky was her roommate when she lived on her own. Pinky was ill about six months ago and I left work early to take her and my daughter to the Vet. He put Pinky on the scale, quickly grabbed her off the scale as he said "no way," and then after adjusting something he put her back on. He turned to us and said, "Amazing, she weighs 2 1/2 pounds." Well, she's put on a few ounces since then.

My wife has a Golden-Standard Poodle (goldendoodle?) mix, and a Cocker Spaniel-Poodle mix (cockapoo?). The big girl weighs close to 70 pounds and the cocker weighs 38. Pinky growls and they slink away. And no, I haven't taken Pinky for a walk yet. They dynamics of big me waking tiny her don't appeal to me.

But that doesn't mean I won't let her crawl inside my shirt and curl up for a nap while I'm doing dailies. Smiley: lol

The breweries from NY that get mentioned the most are SixPoint, Southern Tier and Ommegang.

I haven't had any beers by Ommegang or Sixpoint and I've only had Southern Tier's Oat but looking at the beers, their styles and the reviews I'd suggest trying Southern Tier's Hop Sun which is a light, citrusy wheat beer; Sixpoint's Sweet Action or The Crisp (Both canned) the first being more malty and a little sweet, the latter being more crispy, bitter and hoppy (according to reviews I've read anyway) or Ommegang's Hennepin, a saison which is a little sour, a little fruity and very drinkable or Ommegang's Witte which is a Belgian style wheat beer with coriander and orange, fairly straightforward, light, a little sweet and just a perfect summer beer.

You can find a good bottleshop nearby here. These beers are probably more expensive than Sam Adams but damn they're worth it.

Edit: With Ommegang nearby (And them being owned by Duvel-Moortgat) you can probably find some Duvel fairly easily too, that's one hell of a good beer.

O.K. Aethien, you got my interest piqued. I checked into a local beverage place before I read your last post and found that they have a site. I had been in there a couple of months ago and was in a rush, but noticed that they had a larger beer section than I remembered.

So, I checked in your link and found them there also.

The best part of all this is that I drive within a block of them on my way to and from work each day. I think I'll stop in on my way home tonite.

Smiley: lol Kitty has to be the most awesome name for a large dog.

When I'm walking my parents' Bernese it's like trying to stop a truck from rolling downhill. He's 120lbs and loves to jump and socialize. People make weird faces when he comes sprinting towards them. Fortunately, you can hear and feel the vibrations from his galloping before he gets close, so most people aren't taken by complete surprise.

I've decided that I want to direct the first play of the new season that starts in January, because I want to get at least a little bit of directing under my belt before I start teaching, and I figure now would be a good time to do it. I WAS going to do my favorite Shakespeare play, but it's hard doing Shakespeare in a town where there's a limited amount of guys who are involved in Shakespeare. So I did some research on other scripts, and I found a hilarious parody of Harry Potter. This girl is reading a book, then falls asleep and enters a dream where she is Sally Cotter, and is attending her first day at a wizardry school. Snape's and Draco's characters have also performed a sex change, and instead of wizard chess, they play wizard scrabble. Their rendition of quidditch is freaking hilarious too. I think this will be a lot more fun, only downside is that royalties are $75 a performance. That's way less than Grease was (royalties for it was a total of $3750 for 9 performances), but still more expensive than what we usually pay. Now I just have to wait for the next board meeting to present this idea and see if it gets approved.

I got a heatsink for my laptop today for Rs. 2,800 that actually works.

Yesterday, there were random power surges all day (and during the night as well) and witch each power surge my A/C turned itself off. When I came home after work my room was 5 degrees above normal temperature (which is still too warm). Smiley: mad

On the plus side, my cook's family is taking me fabric shopping today. Looks like I can get my holiday dress in time for the relevant holiday, after all! Smiley: nod

I just dropped like ten grand on home improvements. I'll be lucky to leave the house for anything that isn't work related. Smiley: crymore That, and I think I'm not legally allowed until I retire, and not being able to partake in all that a vacation in Amsterdam entails would be horrible.

Sure, since it's someone else's problem it's hilarious, right?!

I'd laugh too if it were someone else ...

I haven't had any of those.
Aeth, come to Finland sometime, we'll have a beerfest.
Everyone else is invited too of course.
I have only had the Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti before, good stuff. The Oro De Calabasa will have to sit in my closet for another year or so before it's sour enough for my tastes, you're welcome to come over and share the rest though, especially if you bring some cool beers yourself. Smiley: grin

And if I could afford it, I'd go to Finland. Or more specifically, make a round trip through all of Scandinavia.

What would you not be allowed to do on vacation in Amsterdam? Smoke weed?

Hamlet is definitely good. But my favorite is 12th Night. It's one of the comedies, but not as famous as some of the others. It has a lot of common tropes of Shakespearean comedies. Mistaken identity, cross dressing, I think three different couples get married at the end of the play, etc. But there's something special about it that I can't quite put my finger on. I really like Much Ado About Nothing too.

SWTOR is boring. Well, not the game itself, but the players are so stupid, I feel like an MMO god when I play with them.

I'm doing my usual thing, stunning mobs that are going for the healer, doing last-second taunts off the tank to prevent him from dying, finishing weak mobs before strong ones, doing a quick "vanish" followed by a CC on an incoming patrol, etc. And that's every fight. It's @#%^ing multiplayer gold right there. If PvE became an eSport, I'd be a pro and I'd go to all the tournaments (and get all the ladies).

Meanwhile, my multiplayer partners are trying their best to hit three buttons in the right order without their heads exploding. I'm not even kidding. Stray mob? Tank doesn't give a sh*t. Healer is running circles around the tank in an attempt to stay alive. Eventually I popped into my tanking stance and peeled the runaway off the healer, kited it to a ledge and used a knockback to score an instant kill.

Being better than everyone else around you is sort of boring in the long run. Smiley: frown

Ladyboys?

I'm going away tomorrow! Woooh.

Then next week I start teaching disadvantaged minority (Christian) teenagers in Lahore for a couple of weeks, with my friend. Yay.

My original draft (yes, I make drafts for my posts, so what?) featured an "Amirite, Theo?" ending. Smiley: lol

Pretty much. Extremely strict laws about it, and having to stay on my toes trying to "behave" would really ruin a vacation. It's not that I smoke or am even interested in it, but one wrong food order or mixed up plate and I'm royally @#%^ed.

Hell yeah, I'm all over that. In fact, I just gotta find a good pair that'll stay on his head and he won't eat them.

Define long run.

So I'm sitting in my office with one of my soldiers answering phones because he had to make up a day of work. Anyway, my feet are kicked up and I'm reading on my PSP because ... because ... and I hear the door slam open and some screaming. Turns out the guy's friend was livid because he'd had an altercation with the guy's sister. I had to break it up, but it was tough not to laugh at what I overheard.

"You maced her, you @#%^! Real manly"
"What was I supposed to do?! Punch her like a real man?!"
