In English, H₂CO₂, what you get when dissolving CO₂ in water, is generally referred to as carbonic acid. A carbon acid is any kind of acid with carbon in it.

Yeah, I got the 3GS about 6 months before the 4 came out. So I had 6 months of a sweet phone before it got crippled by the update. Prior to the update I leave bluetooth on and it was really nice to use my cars built in bluetooth handsfree. Now I have to leave bluetooth switched off on the phone or the battery runs out mid-afternoon. I don't surf, play games, watch movies etc and probably max out at about 30mins talk a day and probably 80+% of the time it is connected to wifi at home or work. I do get emails though and have it checking fairly frequently as I need it for work. The phone still can do all I need and last the day as long as I leave the bluetooth off.

I like Apple and really enjoy my iPad and playing with my son with it, it is just the lagginess of the phone is a continual reminder which irks me (while still doing pretty much everything I need) :)

I might just have had a break-up. While I was asleep. I'll try and see what exactly is happening there... it looks like it might become two, which would make me single.

I think one of the profs here is hitting on me, though. I don't even know.

Yeah, I choked on my drink when I read "Locked: Name Calling". After reading through the thread, I really couldn't understand why. I mean, the nuked survey one was probably in need of a lock anyway, but the other one had people being helpful.

My guess is that after Bodhi's recent nuked post(which I understand was pretty vile), "your mom" jokes are off limits for a bit until someone stops reporting all of them.

He doesn't know how to deal with jealousy, I can't help him because I don't even understand the emotion at all.

The most stupid thing is that I only got that Dubai guy's number for 2 reasons, 1. it's good to have contacts in Dubai, 2. he reminded me of this guy.

We had a talk and both cried a bit and now we're just gonna... be together and try to meet up ASAP (preferably before I'm actually back in Europe).

It didn't really come up because I hadn't been able to give him a full update about Dubai and he thought it'd be okay to deal because he had no problem with the other people who were in my life from the start.

Gotta go out eat with some faculty members now!

Is this the first time you're going to be apart for an extended period? He might not have had issues before because he wasn't isolated from you. Then again, that's wild conjecture.

I need some more details if you want my advice Kali. I'm not sure I understand what's going on. Which guy is it that got upset by you giving out your number? One of the newer ones, or the one that you're supposed to marry or was going to marry?

If your mom jokes are off limits now, someone should have said something. I never even saw bodhi's post, so I had no idea. It's not very fair to have a thread locked and have my post down-rated by an admin over a new unspoken rule.

Digglet, we normally live in different countries, too - just that now, I can't leave Pakistan and come back without a visa extension, he doesn't want to come here because he's a prosecuted minority over here, and it's just a new situation for him.

With the guy I was supposed to marry, we had some weird ass debate about creationism last night (when I was way too tired to debate anything) with him basically saying that not believing in it is ridiculous and unreasonable while continuously skirting the issue, and then there's the deal about whether I am Ahmadi and how that's a complete dealbreaker.

Speaking of, dinner was amazing apart from the bit where the 2 Pakistani hosts were boasting about how well minorities are treated here. Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Shias, Christians, sure. Certain other minorities? Not so much. I literally got up and vanished into the restaurant's washroom to go talk to someone who's not biased that way on my phone.



Edit: Pigtails, I'd rather discuss more details in private. I'm online at work 9-5 PKT (that's GMT-5, no summer time, so 12 hours ahead of you iirc). Or more like 9.15-1:25 and 2:30-5:45 or something. It kind of varies.

FFS... I'm so glad I don't have obsessive Christian types on my friends list, but seeing them comment on my friends stuff is bad enough... One of John's sisters posted something about inviting people to a Pure Romance party (sex toy party for girls only), and she got chastised by someone saying that she shouldn't go to one of those until she's married because it'll only lead her to temptation. I so want to say something, but I really don't feel like starting sh*t.

Facebook arguments are the best arguments, though.
