Hey all, I've been a long time player of FFXI and recently decided to pop my head in and check out XIV. I like what I'm seeing so far, but the gear thing has really thrown me for a loop.

I'm not sure what is considered good gear and im still trying to wrap my head around what I should be looking out for and for how much. The Optimal Rank thing I want to compare to a level requirement, but it seems like you can equip an item that has an optimum rank. I cant see how it gimps you for not being the optimum rank.

I've always played as a nuker/healer and I'm focusing on THM/CON for that reason, but I'm still wearing rank 6 gear as a rank 15 THM and it doesnt seem to be keeping me from soloing well.

I see a guide that has suggested gear, but I don't know how updated that remains.

Any advice for gear I should be looking out for and how to aquire?
