Ancient Magic (Video)Follow

A lot of people were asking about these, so here you go.

In order: Flare, Burst, Tornado, Freeze, Quake, Flood.

During Flare, I show you the entire wait time between the cast of the spell and the spell's execution. Casting an ancient magic spell grants you a buff that, when close to expiring, will trigger the ancient magic spell near where the target was when you originally casted it.

For the rest of the spells, I skipped the wait period just to show the effects.

Seems like they could be really awesome for long battles... throw one up in between cures/nukes, 30 seconds later, huge chunk of damage.

The only thing that you could ever really use them on is NMs, and it still costs 100 MP which is quite a lot. It doesn't do enough damage to warrant that cost.

Those animations are pretty terrible. Almost like SE said "nobody will stick with the grind long enough to earn these, so let's just forget the animations until we work on other stuff."

Animations are disappointing :( Ancient magic should have more epicness to it.... when you cast it people should unmistakably know that it's a badass spell :s Oh well, fingers crossed that sometimes the animations (for a lot of skills) might change.

Wow, that is pretty lame animation for AM. . .

Let's hope it gets change with the new dev team and bring some of that 11 magic animation over! :)

Thanks for the vid post! So, when the buff is close to expiring it does damage to the area it was originally casted on? I could see that as problematic if you cast it in a heavy mob area and it can hit everything pathing through, heh.

I just watched your vid. The ancient magic looks alright, I really like the way Tornado Looks. There'll prob be Teir 2 and 3 version with more expansions that look even better too(I'm surprised they have AM so early in the game). The 100 MP cost is pretty high though for sure. I'm not to clear on how it actually works though. So if you use it and the buff wears off and the enemy has moved from where you initially cast it then it misses? Also does the AM have an AOE effect?
I bet it'd work good to toss out Flare and then throw Burn on the mob. I wonder what the point of having the time laps is. Strange.

With the way AM works right now and its requirements, the only way I can think of effectively using them is to sort of "lay a trap."

A group of Cons cast AM on the same spot. When the timer is almost over, you pull an IT mob (or an NM) into the area, and it immediately recieves huge damage at the very start of the fight.

Oh how I long for the long lost days of Ultima bolts ripping entire worlds to pieces...

...but at least we have nice grass!
