Ebisu and LuFollow

Ok, so I recently got an Ebisu fishing rod. Now I'm sitting here thinking I should sell my Lu Shang's and enjoy my superior rod and a nice fat wad of change.

And then I do a little digging and come across this thread, which basically indicates that the Ebisu, while unbreakable, is not as good as the Lu Shang's, which is a bit... well, you see what I mean. Especially since FFXIclopedia's page says it is an "Improved Lu Shang's Fishing Rod - unbreakable and faster stamina depletion."

My questions are, one, which bit of info is correct, and two, if the linked thread is correct, then is it worth it to keep the Lu Shang's around or will it realistically matter if I just rely wholly on the Ebisu? Right now I do a lot of smaller fish, but as I get closer to level 100, I'm thinking of going after bigger, legendary fish.

Answers from my fellow fishermen would be much appreciated!

Honestly I think that esbu is probably better for everything.

For what it's worht, I always thought the difference was that for Esbu you didn't run out of stamina.

Ebisu has a slightly shorter time limit to catch fish than the Lu does. But honestly, by the time you get Ebisu (assuming that you fished a good majority of the Gugru/Lik yourself) you're probably good enough at fishing for this to not be any real problem most of the time.

As far as faster stamina depletion goes, I haven't seen it. Seems like placebo to me.



If you mean fatigue, then no, you definitely still fatigue with it.

From a financial point of view, probably not.

However, there are 3 primary reasons that one might want to keep it:

1) The Lu can be sent to mules (useful if you use more than one character to get around fatigue limits) or other people. Ebisu cannot
2) Can be used as a cheap, albeit slow, method of WW skillup in the 70s for either you (although I'd imagine most people with Ebisu have already done this) or someone else.
3) Sentimental value.

I've kept mine for all 3 of those reasons >_>
