I just recently bought a laptop that more than exceeds the minimum specs on this as far as I can tell. I instal the game, update it, and go. It even plays the opening movie, but once it tries to go to the game itself, right after the loading splash screen, it just closes.
As a bonus, if I restart my system, the game won't even try to start, windows thinks it's a corrupted file.
Anyone have anything similar happen to them? It's not critical to me, but it would be nice to craft and run gathering missions while just watching TV and what not.

Same issue found here, no resolution found yet. As a not, occasionally I can get it to load the Server select screen, but it won't populate the server list. It eventually closes saying that it could not connect to the server.

If you got a boxed version some of them are broken, come with a glitch like that and a bugged version of the downloader that won't update. If that's the case you gotta download the digital game even if you have a physical copy. It was a lot of the early boxes that got burned that way, my brother among them.

Before I bother Kao with this, I have a noobish question. Should my device manager show me having two display adapters? Also, should dxdiag be showing the integrated intel graphics as opposed to the nvidia chip? I'm not sure if laptops have their own little quirks.

Are you using a Sandy Bridge chip? Because the Intel HD graphics are solid for most current games. They won't beast on the fps, but you can definitely get some pretty amazing graphics out of them.
It has a Nvidia GeForce 310M in it. To be honest, I have no idea what the @#%^ that means.
One quick update: I updated graphics drivers for both devices, and while the game still crashes, the game files no longer corrupt when I restart my system. At least so far.

Almost everything shows the integrated as my graphics adapter. It seems like the nvidia is only supposed to kick in for gaming and such. When I right click the icon for the game itself, there is an option to run it on the intel graphics as opposed to switching to nvidia, and that's no good either.

Yeah, I found out in the tech forum that it just wasn't going to happen. I just set up a new laptop the other day and have no problems. I'm getting some money back from the other laptop, but I sure artfully blew through my tax return money.
Thanks for everything guys.
