Important Information on Club Nintendo Program Discontinuation

Dear Club Nintendo Members,

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Nintendo.

We launched Club Nintendo 6 years ago in North America, and we’re grateful for all of the feedback that our members have provided on your experiences with our products.

In order to focus on planning for a new customer loyalty program for our fans, we’ve decided to wind-down the Club Nintendo program. We are deeply thankful to our members for being a part of Club Nintendo for all of these years.

We will share details about our new program at a later date. For now, please see the schedule below for information on the discontinuation timeframe for Club Nintendo.

All Coins will be deleted when Club Nintendo accounts are closed on July 1, 2015. As a result, to give our members the best opportunity to use their Coins, we will add dozens of downloadable games and a limited quantity of exclusive reward items to the rewards catalog in February. In addition, as a small token of appreciation for your loyalty, all Club Nintendo members will receive a free download code for Flipnote Studio 3D in February 2015. Please visit here for information on the software and how to get the download code.

2015 Elite Status

In order to reach Elite Status, you must earn 300 Coins (for Gold Status) or 600 Coins (for Platinum Status) between July 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Members who reach Elite Status will be able to choose a downloadable game from a wide selection of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U titles. Your free Elite Status gift will be available between April 1 and April 30, 2015. A list of the Elite Status 2015 gifts will be posted here once announced.

Honestly based on the hoops you had to jump through for extra coins, and the current quality of the rewards this is no big loss.

I read that this morning. I'm sitting on 1100 points right now. I imagine I can burn through them.

I turned some into 5 dollar eshop credits by using them for cheap games with the Wii U digital promo last year. Games bought with coins counted as their full price for the 10% points toward 5 dollar cards. I should have probably burned the rest last year to get more but I was holding off for better VC games.

So apparently the final set of Club Nintendo rewards are up, and it's around 117 downloadable games across multiple system emulators. Club Nintendo site is down for me atm, so I can't confirm what games are available.

It's been flaky for the last year really. They probably started not caring about the stability a while ago.

I might have an extra code laying around. Apparently you can only registered the same game once per account, cause I bought a second copy of a Wii game I gave away to a family member.

Of course, it will only be what... 40 points?

Edit:
Golden Sun and Earthbound for the Wii U Virtual Console... too bad I already bought them on the VC directly.

Time to go through and see which games I want.

I am thinking...
Wonderful 101
Super Mario World
Dr. Mario

That would use up all my points. But I still can't log in properly to get them.

I've got 100 coins worth of surveys to do but the website won't let me cause it's so bogged down. I was able to get two rewards. Holding off on my last reward until I get my other coins to see if I can get something bigger.

I still have a duplicate game Club Nintendo code. If anyone wants it. Probably worth a few points.

It was for a game that I purchased a second copy of after giving away the first copy. Apparently you cannot redeem duplicate games on your same account.

I'll take it if you don't mind. Trying to get Doc Louis' Punchout, as that's a rare eShop game that may not be released again.

Make sure to check your To Do list in about 7 days, usually they have a post play survey worth another 10 points.

I'm sitting on 200 points right now, probably going to purchase another cheap VC game for the Wii U. Maybe Super Mario Bros 3.

I haven't tried playing the Wonderful 101 yet. I downloaded it and then forgot. I'll probably fire it up here and see what it's like. I'm sure for a "free" (600 coin) game it will be fine. Looked kind of like an open world-ish party game to me.

It's like a character action version of Pikimin. Have you played Bayonetta or MGR: Revengance? It's the same style gameplay.

Just fired it up, wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be like... Mario Party with a bunch of action heroes (Disney Infinity maybe?)

But it is a bash em up style game with Pikmin. Not bad. I probably should hook my Wii U back up to my TV (to many consoles, need a bigger TV with more HDMI ports). Playing on the gamepad was fine, but a bit small.

Edit:
I'm curious what the final Gold/Platinum rewards are going to be for Club Nintendo. I'm hoping something good, as a last fairwell to those that spent a lot of money on Nintendo stuff this year.

I'm stuck at 150 points and don't own a 3DS, If by the end I haven't been able to get more points Ill give some board 3DS owner a Gameboy game since that's all 150 points gets you.

Also I need Nintendo friends or something for Hyrule Warriors, add me BeanX81 or I can add you if you give your gamer tag.

Do you need just the gamertag, or does that person have to have the game as well?

The final gold/platinum rewards are up. Not as great as I expected them to be as it was the final one.

Eh, I liked the choice of full retail downloads available. Picked up "New Super Mario Bros 2" for my 3DS - and had tons of fun playing it this weekend. It's a game I've always sort of wanted but not enough to pay 40+ bucks for it... so it was perfect as a loyalty reward in my opinion.

Last year's gold options were garbage... I did have platinum this year... and one other year (got majora's mask soundtrack that time).

Frankly I like the retail download more than the soundtrack - but the year the soundtrack was offered there wasn't much choice for downloads that seemed worth it. I am not really someone who understands the desire for swag though...
