Add your own, agree, disagree. GFY. Don't. Whatevs.

Without further ado:

The Last of Us

PS3 is set to have quite a final swan song. It's making 360 look like its poor, disabled, underpriveledged cousin from Back@#%^water, KS. Games like Puppeteer, Diablo 3 (seriously, who cares), Beyond: Two Souls with the above mentioned leading the charge on June 14.

A.N.N.E (kickstarter)

Leaving the last period out intentionally, this game is still currently in Kickstarter with a planned release sometime in 2014. Combining pixelicious goodness with a promising soundtrack, a dash of Metroidvania gameplay mixed with some space shooting action. It's 44k/70k for its funding goal with 21 days remaining, well within the finish line. This is the first game I have given to on Kickstarter (not the first time I've funded).

Starbound

Think Terraria as it should be, on steroids and brought back from the dead by a super powered lightning bolt. This is a multiplayer game that is about exploring and building. The stated goal for space combat is to be similar to FTL (YAY). It's difficult to explain this type of game so read a bit more here. The game is selling presales and has now sold 42.670 copies sold. $15 is enough to get you beta access this year, a digital copy of the game, and the complete soundtrack (WHICH IS AMAZING BACKGROUND MUSIC, I LISTEN TO AT WORK). Worth it for the soundtrack alone, in my opinion.

GTA V

Do I need to explain?

Watch_Dogs

GTA with hacking, in Chicago! Don't let me down Ubisoft!

Honorable mentions go to 3DS Phoenix Wright, Tearaway (Vita), Hotline Miami (already have on steam but double dip for PS3/Vita), Saints Row 4, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (Vita) Infamous: Second Son (PS4), and Fallout 4 (DON'T LET ME DOWN E3).

Watch Dogs looks cool. I'm hopeful that they don't f-- up Chicago too bad. At least the cop cars are blue and white instead of black and white (looking to you, Hitman: Absolution)

I'm looking forward to Metro: Last Light. Hoping a decent pre-order offer comes up and I might take the chance. I enjoyed 2033 anyway. Have an obligatory trailer:

I have Metro 2033 but I couldn't really get into it. I wasn't able to really jack up the visuals on my now outdated PC. I'm getting a $2500 discretionary merit payment next month and I'm hoping I can snag a GTX780 (assuming they're available). My new build will hopefully play everything maxed out and I can play some of these games I've been missing out on like super modded Fallout, Skyrim, and GTA4.

My first order of business is finishing Witcher 2. I bought a physical copy at launch and never finished. Not even sure I still have my save. Mentally hyping myself up.

Tentatively excited for The Last of Us. That's about it right now. I've been subsisting mostly on the odd indie game of late, and they tend to just crop up without much notice.

Still not really sure how I feel about this. Heavy Rain was a very divisive game (and I still haven't played). I don't mind Page and I really like Dafoe. Holding my wallet on that one for now.

The Last of Us looks like it'll be awesome, I may even preorder it. Aside from that, the only two games on my radar are Watch Dogs and The Witcher 3. I'm too lazy to find videos.

I'm considering the Survival Edition of The Last of Us. I am a sucker for mid-range collector's editions, and it really looks like they've put together a great little package for the extra $20. Hopefully the artbook is a bit better quality than the one I got with my copy of Dark Souls (that one, the pages were glued together too far past the binding that it obscured the edge of some of the art).

I'll be checking out Amazon for any decent pre-order bonuses on the console titles I'm looking at. PC games, I don't know that I should be pre-ordering anything unless there's a really great reason to do so, since apparently I don't necessarily play games as soon as I get them. PC games tend to drop in price or go on sale much sooner than console games, so unless I plan on playing the game in the first week of its release, I'll just wait until the first decent sale.

Part of me is interested in the next Batman: Arkham game, except that it isn't Rocksteady Studio making it. I'll most likely pick up Deadpool's game, though the preorder deal doesn't seem that interesting. Maybe Tales of Xillia and Disgaea D2 are highly likely to scratch that RPG itch. Last of Us looks interesting, though I don't think I'll jump on it until it drops in price. Saints Row IV, Grand Theft Auto V, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and Watchdogs are on my radar as well.

Metro 2033 was horribly optimized. I didn't have much trouble with it but that was apparently by the grace of God since I know many people did. I liked the game a lot though. But then I'm a ***** for that whole Soviet-Bleak stuff. Had to talk myself out of playing Stalker: SoC for the 3rd or 4th time the other day and do some backlog mining instead.

Spoon isn't playing his copy yet, maybe you can buy it from him for a discount.

I don't know. I play MOBA games a lot, and to me it just looks like LoL with the serial numbers filed off and a coat of DC paint.

"Champions," not "heroes" or "supers" or anything like that? Check.

A passive and three abilities plus one ultimate? Check.

Two main +damage stats, one for physical and one for magical/special abilities/whatever? Check.

Defined character roles? Check. (The only thing they seem to be missing is a true carry)

Champion spotlight-style videos, showing a character's abilities one at a time with developer narration? Check.

Skillshots, skillshots, and more skillshots? Check.

Most CC in the game is short-duration slows and silences, with stuns being rare? Check.

Free to play? Not confirmed by a long shot, but I would be surprised if it wasn't.

I just don't see much that sets it apart from LoL, aside from the fact that it's DC characters. That's cool, don't get me wrong. Except Nightmare Batman looks ridiculous. It's just that with so many new things popping up in the genre, you need to do something to set yourself apart from the competition. Dota is the original, LoL is significantly different and does well on its own because of that, Smite is the ******* child of a moba game and a fps, etc.

Everything about this game to me screams "LoL! Infinite Crisis!" And if you could choose between the actual product and a knockoff, why take the knockoff?

If it lowers the barrier to entry yes. LoL and DotA2 players are known for there temper. Some people like me would love to get to learn the game but dont want to make 4 other people suffer because we dont know keybinds yet. I'm learning to play Moba via Smite, Im ok but not great and you even get yelled at in that if your not "perfect". If its a fun casual Moba that people can get into I definitely feel there is a place for it.

The thing is in MMO's and other games you can choose to solo until cap and by that time you've had hours of experience with different gear and abilities. A Moba it plops you with 4 other people and if you suck you can cost your team the entire match if you dont know what you're doing, and get yelled at the entire time.

Example: I was playing a support/Carry. The person I was laneing with would sometimes jump into the jungle and IDK dissapear without saying anything. But it seemed everytime he disappeared it was 2 stuns and dead from the other side. I got ******* at for "feeding" and my item build was terrible and they were going to report me. I was pissed (because I kept dying) and I just blew up at them and told them I just started playing on Sat Night. But they had no issues ******** at me the entire game, we won in the end but only because the person I feed d/ced. Honestly I just wanted to quit but lucky for me Smite has more then just plain Moba. So I got into a few rounds of Arena and All random, All Mid to try out new things.

So overall yes, If the new game is more casual, or brings new players in because they are super hero fans i'm all for the knock off.

Put it this way: Its like babies first MOBA. Let LoL and DotA2 be for the hardcore but let the super hero "knock off" be the place where you can chill and have fun.

The thing is, LoL and Dota both have modes designed for that exact thing - practicing with bots. And for playing against humans, Dota has a lot of groups that do stuff designed to teach ("redditnoobs" is one such group, for example) and LoL has Normal mode matches, which are designed to be a lot less serious and more for fun. Hell, they even just introduced an official All Random, All Mid queue in the most recent patch, too.

You say you don't want to make four other people suffer, but you still have four other people on your team in Infinite Crisis, too. So I'm not sure what the difference is there.

I don't see this as lowering the barrier to entry at all. For all we know, the community that springs up around IC might be the worst we've ever seen (even taking HoN into account). I think it's just a LoL knockoff, not "LoL lite" or whatever. If you're looking for a version of LoL or Dota that you can just play and have fun, then play LoL or Dota, and have fun. The companies behind both have been making a serious effort to improve the community, and it shows. On the rare occasion there's a flamer, you just report him, mute him, and move on, and he will likely receive a hefty punishment.
