What really sucks is that Mage Armor is useless if you don a mask.

Would it have killed them to make one of those clothing?

All you guys talking about a Thief route made me create a new character. Eight levels in from just assassinating random civilians in their homes and I decided to not go through with it. I've done too many quests on my Battlemage to go back now. Can't even imagine going through all that stuff again.

Damn this selective eidetic memory. Books, movies, video games... I remember them all after one playthrough, but can't even remember to do the dishes.

Anyone else always want to follower those random travelers you see on the roads? For instance, I just ran into some imperials escorting a stormcloak prisoner. I'm really curious as to where they will take him, but I'm not convinced it would be worth my time in the end...

I'm sure there will be a mod out soon enough to fix that.

gah, yeah, i ran into them taking the road from helgen to ivarstead, just after passing a stormcloak camp. i kinda considered following them to see if they'd get ambushed. well they were actually heading towards helgen, guess they didn't hear the news.

I followed an Imperial Guard escorting a Noble who treated me like a ****. When they decided to walk past a bandit type hideout I quietly sniped the noble and let the guard fight the bandits, and slowly picked them off as well. Also got a free horse.

I went to Riverwood on my Thief character and murdered everyone in their sleep and no one cared (well, no one was left to care, except for the blacksmith and his wife - and the drunk guy).

Then the morning after, that drunken ******* (Embry? Embrey?) tells me I'm looking fuzzy (like I'm some kind of Khajiit!), so I run away, crouch, wait for the eye to shut and tell me I'm hidden, line up an arrow and plant it right in the back of his head. The blacksmith's wife, I kid you not, comes running from the goddamn sawmill and starts attacking me, despite me having sheathed my bow and run to a different part of the village.

Right on the blacksmith's wife's heels are three Whiterun guards despite me not having been to Whiterun and asked them to send reinforcements yet.

What's up with the AI in this game? Why can I murder ten people in their sleep with people seeing me enter and leave homes at night, but the moment someone drops dead on the street in the day, everyone assumes it's the Dark Elf about to enter the inn that did it.

Same. Except the nobles didn't have a horse, and were talking loudly of the numerous expensive gifts they bought and were currently carrying with them with only one armed guard as they traveled to the Emperor's cousin's wedding.

Which was fortunate for me, because my Black Star was empty. The gifts were just meh jewelry.

I personally love the drug-dealing Argonians I keep finding in the wilderness. Into the Soul Gem you go, Mr. Skooma-peddler.

the morrowind and oblivion landmasses are included in skyrim, but you can't get there without the console:

Wouldn't be surprised if Morrowind and Oblivion are included in some DLC in the future. Bethesda did something similar in Fallout 3, except they added the areas later and going there required zoning/loading. They probably thought a couple of steps ahead with Skyrim.

Massive game has potential to become MEGA* massive!

I am not sure what would be left in Morrowind considering the dormant volcano that makes up the island of Vvardenfell isn't dormant anymore. We could head to the western coastline of Morrowind but I have my doubts about visiting where my warrior of ES3 slew Dagoth Ur.

Marriage in this game is obviously not for me. To wit (may contain possible spoilers):

After saving up the money to buy the manor in Solitude (In-house arcane enchanter? Yes please!), I decided I'd pop the question to my sexy new housecarl, Jordis the Sword-Maiden. She obviously knows how to handle her business, as evidenced by the fact that she's kitted out in a full set of steel armor, and she's not too hard on the eyes either; she has this sexy, quasi-emo Avril Lavigne look going on. Smokin' hot, and knows how to handle a sword; best of both worlds, right?

She accepted, obviously, because who can resist a warmonger in full Daedric armor with an arrow sticking straight through his skull? No sooner was the marriage official (side note: Daedric armor apparently qualifies as proper wedding attire in Skyrim) than my new bride turned to me and asked where we should live; in my house or hers. Umm, darling, you live in my house. You're my housecarl. It's the same place.

Alright, so she's not the sharpest sword in the armory, but remember: hot, and proficient in one-handed weaponry.

I quickly whisked my new wife back to my manor, where she greeted me as she always did: "Honor to you, my Thane." Oh, I see what's going on here. A little game of "Randy Thane and the Naughty Housecarl", eh? The Proudspire in my pants is under attack, and only you can save it! To battle!

At which point she marched straight downstairs and went to sleep on the dusty bedroll in the storage room.

After those embarrassing events, she continued to greet me as she always had before our nuptials, utterly cold and distant. At that point, I decided that she had obviously taken a few too many shield bashes to the head, and reloaded an older save to try my hand with a different maiden.

I settled on Mjoll the Lioness, even though the first thing that ran through my head was that I would be basically sleeping with a female Mel Gibson circa Braveheart. Then again, so what if half of her face is permanently covered in blue paint? At least she's not also a werewolf, right?

The ceremony was standard affair, and she moved in right away, although again offered to let me move in with her (you live in an inn, lady). Maybe there's something in the water.

At least she greeted me differently now. Why hello, my love! It's great to see you, too. Who is that guy following you around, my love? Wait, is that the dude that was tagging along behind you in Riften? Doesn't he have someplace to be? He's not staying for good, right?

Hey pal, I'm sure she's super grateful for pulling her out of those Dwemer ruins and all, but you need to take a hike. Here's a few septims for a carriage ride back to Riften. No, seriously, get lost. Stop standing over her while she's sleeping, you creep. Can you give us a little privacy, for Mara's sake? Alright, that's it! Say hello to Mr. Stabby...

... at which point I gained a bounty of 1,000 gold in Solitude, and my dutiful new wife pulled out her two-handed battleaxe and began coming after me.

**** marriage in this game. Seriously.

I discovered Fort Greymoor earlier this week, and it was filled with Bandits. I killed all of them (or so I thought) but didn't get the "*Cleared" Icon that usually appears. I ignored it and moved on, clearing a few other spots, doing some stuff, etc. Then I decided to go back to Fort Greymoor and see if I missed something.

Suddenly the entire Fort is filled with Imperials. They are indifferent to me, until I enter the fort and prison. The soldiers threaten me, and eventually attack. I defend myself and kill them all, getting decent EXP, and a TON of blocking EXP as I let one of the prison guards wail on my shield for a while. Unlocked level 50 shield and got the 50% element resist.

I leave the inside of the Fort and see the Imperials scurrying around the battlements staring up at the sky. A Dragon attack. Pop a couple arrows in it and it's dead (those archers really let that poor dragon have it).

What's strange, is everything in the fort is free for me to take, including two horses. The Imperials outside don't mind me walking around and talking to them. It was a very nice surprise. I don't know if it's a bug because of the way they moved in after I had started a Bandit raid there, or if it's supposed to be a way to get free horses... Free items, free horses, free dragon soul/loot. Smiley: grin

I've been looking for underleveled skills to work on to level up a bit faster and decided to try Block. I almost never block since it's fairly easy to just get out of the way of a hit. As I'm typing this I'm holding my shield up in front of an angry Mudcrab getting the easiest and most boring skill ups in the game.

I tried Conjuration by casting the sword spell, but apparently you have to actually hit things with it to skill up. Spamming Muffle is an easy way to level Illusion magic, a school I never use. Anyone have any ideas for quick and easy leveling?

Easy leveling? As in your main level? Stick to one skill if you want to level quickly. You gain more xp towards your next level by raising a skill from 98->99 than one from 15->16.

I'm really just in it for the perks. There is a bunch of them that I'd like to pick up, and now that I'm in the forties it's taking annoyingly long to level on just the skills I use the most.

You can leave sneaking skill to 100 fairly easily by going to an inn somewhere and running around behind the counter. Put your back to a wall behind the innkeeper and find some way to engage the key that makes you walk backwards (I did it by jamming a rolled up post-it note under the 'W' key so it held down the 'S' key). Leave it overnight and you'll have 100 sneak skill. There's something oddly satisfying about getting a 3.0x damage bonus on an arrow fired into the face of an enemy at point blank range because they apparently can't see you.

If you don't have blacksmithing leveled, stockpile iron ore/ingots and leather straps and spam Iron Daggers. Keep those daggers and enchant them to level enchanting, and then sell them for sweet, sweet profit.

You can apparently gain rapid skill to Alteration by getting Telekenisis and Detect Life spells and then stand at the tree in the middle of Whiterun (near the ranting priest) and alternate Detect Life with levitating some random object. I haven't tried that one myself but I'm starved for perk points right now so that might be my next project.

You can recharge an item even if it's not empty- to recharge, you need to select the item then the gem, not the gem then the item. This is opposite of Oblivion and confused me at first.

nope, i didn't get that one either. i'm really **** about peeking in every corner before moving to the next room. i think there was one room or hallway i missed, but at the time i didn't feel like going halfway back through to find it. there might have been a lock you didn't pick or something?
I've been all over that fracking dungeon. Even found this hidden room that required the swift shout to reach for jumping gaps... but still haven't cleared it! One of the Skyrim wikis mentions a strange mask, so maybe I need to find that too? Smiley: mad

well i did it again last night and didn't clear it. but this time i did find that small secret room at the bottom of the dead end steps ... and ... that chest after shouting across the gaps ... and ... the dragon wall. totally missed it the first time.
