EQOA Private ServerFollow

#1 Oct 14 2010 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
Hey guys. I was able to get EQOA to run on a PS2 Emulator flawlessly. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about creating servers, and would be interested in assisting in making one. c.C

I know nothing about making them, however I would love to make one. If you can find stuff telling you how, I should be able to understand it.

Unless your computer is pretty good, it won't be worth trying. This puter has a dual core 2.6ghz AMD CPU, 3gb RAM and an integrated video card. I can EQOA, but it's extremely laggy. A real video card would probably help, but how much so I do not know.

What are the specs of your computer? And if you don't know, you probably shouldn't even try.

Yea, i discovered you need a pretty up to date computer to run eqoa at full speed. I seriously upgraded my PC, and now eqoa's load time is practically nothing. Coaching from place to place, loading times take no more than a 6 or so seconds. (I can coach faster to FP from BW than my wizard friend could evac there.)

Also a noteable difference, is that when I go into first person, look up or down to keep several in-game objects out of my characters vision, I can move at incredibly fast speeds, so fast that I am able to outrun mobs with super sow... Which makes great use for getting coaches.

I've had little luck at getting information from people on how to start making one, aside from needing a router that can re-direct traffic and packet sniff or something.

^ was probably the only sort of useful information I could find.

I really want to try and figure out how to do this, we all know EQOA wont be around forever, so we need something to have for when that fateful day finally arrives. :(

Oh yea, Pcsx2 is the emulator I use.
Theres several plugins as well. With 9.6 you can use your computer keyboard for typing with a a usb plugin, however that usb plugin does not work with version 9.7, but 9.7 runs MUCH faster and appears much more stable for online play.

This is an AMAZING idea. If anyone figures it out and sets it up, i will be there immediately.

There has to be a way to do it... I'm just not quite skilled enough to figure it out yet

Honestly, it would be really gay to set up a public 'private' server while EQOA is still alive in the state it's in. Just because you might end up killing off the game you love so dearly, and with that would probably have a lower population than it anyway.

Yea, but Id be satisfied playing by myself as crazy as it sounds. Hell, I'd quad box groups and the low end mobs most the time anyway.
#11 Dec 13 2010 at 5:46 AM Rating: Default
I'd like it because of all the stuff I could learn that I haven't been able to.

i dont think a private server could do anymore damage to the population on regular servers. It would however attract a lot of players who still love the game but wont pay 15 bucks a month for not a whole lot of activity from the devs. Honestly people are lucky the actual servers are still open.

I downloaded the emulator, but I'm having trouble getting it setup properly. I think my laptop graphics card just isn't capable of running. Ill have to get my desktop up and running again then try it on there.

Also, I was wondering how do you get past the login screens to actully run around without signing in to your station account?
#14 Dec 22 2010 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
Not sure if I misunderstood the question, but you mean play EQOA without signing into your station account/EQOA account? You can't. Not until a private server is made anyway.

If you mean when a private server is made, how would we bypass that screen, we wouldnt. We would change the IP address the game sends players to when they attempt to login to their account to the IP address of whatever the private servers IP address would be.

How do you set up the emulator to run EQOA.. I sold my PS2 and I'm pretty sure my PC is strong enough to run it on one.. I'm not very smart when it comes to setting up emulators though. I downloaded it installed and now its asking for my PS2 BIOS and I have no idea how or where to get them.
#16 Dec 25 2010 at 10:49 AM Rating: Decent
Done with Cata already? And we can't give you a link to the BIO's. That is highly illegal.

EDIT: But they are on the internet you just have to find them.

Nah not done just got a few friends going back to EQOA and I was wanting to try it out.. I've got the bios but now I can't find an ISO for Fronts and I don't know where to even start to rip mine off my disc..
#18 Dec 25 2010 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
Neither do I to tell you the truth. But I did it somehow. I think it's something on PCSX.

Getting the frontiers iso to run is easy, however getting it online was tricky. You have to add into the iso a dnas code thats embeded on everyones eqoa disc, so for each disc it's different.

If you don't use a code from your disc it's also illegal.
#21 Jan 01 2011 at 10:45 AM Rating: Decent
Yea, but so is emulating the game on your pc.

But regardless, the iso will not connect to dnas whatsoever without a correct code embeded. It will load the game correctly, but when you tell it to connect, it will time out and say there is a connection error. Oddly, cloning the CD wont bring over the code. There's a small tutorial on how to find the code at the pcsx2 forums, but it requires a few things to do it.

There's nothing illegal about emulating it, assuming you don't break any laws (of course).

If you use a BIOS from your currently owned PS2 that you acquired yourself, then you're emulator is legal.
The emulator lets you play games directly from your CD drive, so if that is a real game, it's legal.
If you are playing a game that is a disc image, you must have made it yourself, of a game you currently own, for it to be legal.

Since he has claimed he doesn't have a PS2, you Lear can be charged with aiding him in breaking the law, as you know he cannot legally use his emulator.

I'm not trying to be a stickler -- I don't care what you do.

I'm just letting you and others know what side of the law you're standing on. I personally care to know these things, weather or not it will deter me from anything.

Haha I'm just scared some ***** is gonna report the post then they gonna report it to the police. But personally I'll download bios all day then use them, haha.

I actually found my fat ps2's and got the BIOS. Now its just a matter of figuring out how to get Fronts to work in my PC..

I understand where your coming from. And while I take back my statement above and wont share the iso, I'm pretty sure emulating eqoa in any form or fassion is against the terms of service, so one way or another, all of this is wrong.
