Looks like essentially everything we will ever acquire via DoL is now stacked to 99...

Amazing for inventory space, but also, increases our ability to sell more/large quantities of items in our 10 retainer slots.

I am still trying to wrap my head around how awesome this news is.

I got my hopes up the last time they said they were going to increase the stack size on some items, and of course was disappointed when it didn't include ores, etc. This will be really awesome, although again all the nice changes are coming after I'm already rank 50!

This is fantastic news, lots more storage space, lots more selling space :D

I believe there is also increased speed of gathering mentioned in the patch notes.

again very glad I purchased sparkly new mining gear :D

Well being the negative stick in the mud I am I still don't think ore, logs and large things like that should stack to 99. |3 but hey, I'm not gonna complain if this is what they wanna do... maybe I can finally have retainer space instead of 50 stacks of iron and 50 stacks of oak and pine on my retainers... heh.

Mostly happy that they are doing it for veggies and spices and such, certainly will help culnerarians not needing to carry 20 stacks of every ingredient.

I'm personally curious about the economic impact this will have.

Currently, on a good night, I can harvest 15 stacks of 1 type of log. When I return to town currently, I need to list those 180 logs in a manner that will enure that I have space for the next shipment of 180 logs, that would generally show up 2 days later.

Considering my wood mules woodcutters retainer, and how it generally has 3 slots for misc branches and HQ lumber I'm selling, so I would list 7 stacks of logs before I log out, and hope within 1 day, I can list the second batch of 7 stacks so all logs are gone with I do the next batch of logging.

Now with the incoming 99 stacks, in those same 7 slots on my one retainer I can now fit more then 4 full trips of 180 logs, and not be concerned if they are selling. Add to that, the fact that even if things don't sell, I have more then enough room in the retainer inventory to store long term the material overflow, where before it was very easy to fill up 100 retainer slots.

IMO, this change will have an economic impact, and at this point, it's unclear to me, which way things will go, as my PoV can easy vary from the norm.

I agree there will be an economic impact. but from my point of view it should be small. I plan to use the extra bag space for gear so i can carry all the necessary gear specialised for my choice of jobs I choose to rank up. The extra retainer selling space I can start to sell all the random junk i got just sitting there not doing anything. I personally am not going to spend 4x the amount of time gathering to take advantage of the extra space. Less other random stuff will be chucked also.

For those only interested in raking in as much gil as possible (as though we need to) yes they could flood the market with items which in turn become cheaper. I can't really see it going the other way but hey I wont complain

yeah hopefully this means that botanists will carry more veggies and spices instead of dumping them for extra stacks of (more lucrative) logs

Still, as a CUL I am sad that some foods won't also be having their stack size increased - but I'll take what I can get.

(Why will pixie plums stack to 99 but prunes won't? booo)

One thing I hope they do in the future is like in FFXI, that they make 4 hour and 30 minute food, and HQ actually increases time food lasts, as well as letting you craft more than 1 item on 30 minute foods per craft, and let it be 4 hour foods that only gives you 1 item per craft, but this is just a side thought, just happy we don't need to have 10 stacks of carots laying about or somthing like that. :P

I don't know that it will cause me to change what I'm doing that much. I doubt I will take the time to put low cost items on my retainer for sale. It just isn't worth the hassle. Especially when I have other more profitable items to sell on my two retainers.

What it will do is free me up having to play the 'Loot Pool' game of deciding which item to toss in favor of something more valuable. I will be able to take a lot more stuff back to town to vendor. It will also help me leave Dragon Head and make use of some of the other Grade 5 collection sites. That vendor NPC in Dragon Head has been my favorite NPC for a long time.
