Helmet Crabs impossible to find ?Follow

Anyone have any advice how to get helmet crabs?

I would think something catchable in grade 2 would be easy to farm but its been a complete nightmare for me. With 30+ fishing I was able to get 3 of these in grade 2 outside of skull valley in an hour using a bamboo rod and lugworms. And that was only following the schools of fish (without the schools im pretty sure these are completely impossible to catch)

Is there ANYWAY to get these things quickly and or in bulk (or even just a better way than 3-4 an hour), even if it involves actually fishing at a higher level zone because getting them @ skull valleys a nightmare.

Thanks for any help or advice :D

I've only found helmet crabs in skull valley fishing nodes, I might need to return to just fishing in the open water and check out a little bit more since I'm sure I'm missing a result or two for fishing there.

mjv is right as far as I know. I have only caught them on the Skull Valley nodes as well.

Is it possible the crabs just hate the taste of lugworms? <,<

I know crabs are scavengers mostly, but they do tend to like fish and stuff too. Maybe there's different baits that will get them more interested than lugworms?

I used to get quite a few of these during the leve from skull with the 3 fishing spots on the cliffs, but as I ranked up I moved on to different waters. I did notice I was catching more crabs as I was gaining ranks though. You might want to try blood worms, I'm still doing rank 30 and 40 leves with blood worms, I just seem to get the best result with those on leves. Just stay in one of the spots and let the timer run out on the leve so you can catch more crabbies.

There's a specific lure (Cage Feeder) that might be suitable for catching helmet crabs. If I could bring myself to mess around with fishing a bit more I'd make one and try it out but as it is, I'm not huge on fishing. Need a rank 28+ armorer to make, but it sounds like the same principle as your standard crab trap. Put food for the crabs in cage, drop cage to bottom, crabs go inside cage to get food, pull cage up, crabs are trapped, hurray.

Just a theory.

I get a lot of crabs while doing the leves in skull valley but don't seem to hook them outside of leves.

I want a cage feeder but everyone I see is over 100K... which is too much for something I could lose. I would be willing to pay 100K for 5 of them maybe... but not for just 1.

Fishing leves around grade 3 areas tend to offer cage lures every so often.

The material requirements for cage feeders is pretty trivial. If you fish up some finger shrimp and track down some hooks from a market ward, I'd think it would be fairly easy to find an armorer willing to make some up for you. 100k really is too much for those. I'd be hard pressed to spend more than 10k out of a bazaar.

It's been a while since I fished these crabs... But I recall using crayfish balls off the cliffs and aiming low in the waters - that part should be pretty obvious. I'll test tonight and see what the results are on my Fisherman.

I catch helmet crabs in grade 2 salt water using floating minnow and spoon lure.

I have like 7 cage lures from leve rewards, I should try to use them sometime and see how they work.

I have gotten some cage lures but they seem to be useless. Maybe I just need to get higher for them to work. R19 now.

The only lure/baits that will fish up Helmet Crabs are cage feeders and lugworms.

Of the two, cage feeders are superior for one important reason aside from higher rank. They are the Helmet Crab's favorite! This is given by an indication message "The fish seem to be biting on cage feeders" followed by "Something big hits your line!" This tells you that one fish has a favorite to the lure you are using and will always be the same type every time you get these messages!

Only two locations will yield Helmet Crabs which is shown below.

thanks for the tip - I got cage lures but never tried em here. I wouldn't mind getting some more helmet crabs to stock up on ironhide powder
