FFXIV in Southeast Asia?Follow

Japan and the rest of Asia don't get along very well together...now I'm not suggesting you won't see FFXIV...just saying if you never do this might be why.

Hey, I'm an American expat living in Japan, you should check this site http://www.play-asia.com to see if they ship your way, which I would bet they do. Thats the site I'm using to pick up my copy of the game. Atm though for the CE they are still figuring out how many copies they can get off the distributor so its not available for pre-order yet.

Edit: Make sure you pick up the US version though, because while i'm not 100% I am fairly sure you need to register on whatever region the game is listed from, IE: I can't just buy it at the store over here because I'm not fluent enough to register it in japanese.

I don't know about XIV but XI worked for me in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was a bit laggy, but it worked just fine.

I'd assume XIV will as long as you import an NA or EU client

I live in Thailand. This country isn't listed on that page either.

I wouldn't be TOO worried about it just yet though (although I admit I am a little). I'm pretty sure there will be a solution.

Although most rmt origins from china, but i dont see why japan(part of asia) is also stopping other countries in asia from registering profile to their own country. They had brunei in the list, but they did not include most of the asia countries such as malaysia, singapore, indonesia, philpines, vietnam, thailand and many more. In fact many of these countries are further from china than japan is, many do support final fantasy 11 right from the start. Now that the system is changed in the midst for players in ff11 to be stuck, and ff14 to be unreachable to many of us.

One important issue will be region, it seems that the system choose your selected region after you select and confirm, so people who pre-order the US version, and their country is in the EU region list will be force to cancel their pre-order due to region compatibility?

The reason why certain countries arent included in the list are due to rights and license issues. The countries excluded normally do not have a company that have obtained rights or license from SE to work as a middleman to SE's services. Brunei, East Timor, Nepal, India and the Middle East do have companies which had signed with SE to act as a relay to their services, etc. Therefore you see the countries name listed.

Of course being an international release, you can play FFXIV all around the world as there's no ip block, just that you may not receive certain services or have access to certain services like sales of time-card at your local convenience store, absence of launch event/ physical special events, etc. Therefore do not worry if you're out of the stated region course you still can play, I'm in Singapore but i'm still able to play the game from here.

Sometimes you have your local gaming community to blame as well, it maybe due to the nature of the countries' game community that SE or local Co. dare not sign up a contract to provide services there. Esp for countries in SEA region, they're famous for going for F2P mmos while sales for P2P mmo is minimal and loses out to those in Japan/US/UK.



Just make sure when you buy the game, the game is of your acc's region, i.e. us region gamebox for us region acc. While the servers are all the same, the software's region locked, a diff region's acc would not be able to play with another region's game box.

It's really scary how little info Square Enix actually released so far while FFXIV CE is gonna release in another 2 weeks+..

I still don't know whether I should preorder EU or NA version because my country Malaysia is not included too.
