Coming back after a year, what's with the starting areas?Follow

I am coming back after a year, in one more month, but for the time being i'm playing the trial. So what's the deal with the starting areas? Do the separate races no longer get their own areas? I noticed my dwarf started in grimmenhagen instead of in the mountains. Is this because of the trial or is the game changed so much since i played it last? Any info would be helpful. thank you.

The other areas are still available. In fact I think you should have an item in your inventory that will teleport you to the Dwarf area immediately. They are still there but everyone has been moved into the Empire/Chaos pairing by default to increase the population. This means more people to group with, do PQs, and RvR.
