Sandoria (S) WoTG Quest "In a Haze of Glory" BC Fight- The Orc Turret
I soloed this BC on 75 MNK/NIN, but would not advise it as the 30 min time limit will catch up with you. I finished this with less than 1 min remaining and it was only because I had 2 persikos au laits and a vile elixer. It was not the difficulty of the mobs, but the time it took to kill the Hexspinners and Footsoldiers guarding the Turret and the time needed to heal in preparation to kill the turret.
All mobs are True Sight, SNK and INVIS will not work in the BC. These mobs are equipped with either a high level poison grenade or spell. The turret will also drop a poison grenade. Accordingly, antidotes are a must. I was able to make it to the Turret area aggroing only 1 Gob and 2 Hexspinners along the way. Best to keep to the right wall as you move south to H-10. Walking down the right side, there are two areas where you need to walk up to a small plateau where you are exposed. Drop off the plateau to the immediate right
All mobs in the BC have rather weak DEF, but quite strong Attacks. I could dispense these these mobs with basically 1 Asuran Fists WS. However, these mobs would hit for an average of 100 hp, Crit for 200+ HP and WS or aga for up to 700 HP om my 75 MNK/NIN. Moreover, their attacks were fairly fast with good accuracy to the point it was quite difficult to keep up Ichi shadows. I found an evasion setup was not effective so I stayed with a 25% haste setup, (Walmart hat, black belt, B.Hidate, Fumas.)
It took about 10 mins to reach the turret area at H-10. Another 12-15 mins to dispatch the turret guards and heal, and 5-8 mins to Hundred Fists and kill the Turret. Again, the time limit must be observed. Using Carbonara food (+1 hp heal) and Melee Cyclas (regen) to heal, the Persikos au lait gave me 5 hp per tic and the +6 healing hp on cyclas really helped. It is stated that the poison flasks you see throughout the area can be meleed with 1 shot and will require a turret guard "to leave the turret area and come to the flask and repair it." I did not do this, but it could help in saving some time. When I arrived at the Turret area, there was 1 Hexspinner where I dropped off the plateau on the NW side and two Orc pairs (1 Hexspinner and 1 Footsoldier to a pair) walking around the turret.
If you solo, try to make it to the Turret area, (H-10) with 100 TP or bring an Icarus Wing. This will permit you to pull 2 guards, kill 1 with a 1 shot WS,(1200 or so dmg) and melee the other to get to 100 TP again. Pull the other 2 guards and repeat. There is a little cravass on the north western side,(right side) of the turret area where you can drop down. There is a Hexspinner there, which after killing, serves as a good area to pull the turret guards. I used my vile elixer to heal after killing the guards. This should max your HP and will leave you with 100TP to open on the Turret.
The Turret itself is a rather easy fight, but it does hold alot of HP. It will drop a poison grenade about every 45 secs or so which can be antidoted out. On Monk, I opened with 3 boosted Chi-blast>Asuran Fists>Focus>Hundred Fists. The turret took 4 Asuran Fists WS,(920 to 1110 dmg with Osode), 2 non boosted while on Hundred Fists and 2 boosted AFs after 2hr before dispatching the Turret with less than 1 min remaining.
In Summary if you Melee solo this BC bring the following:
+HP healing gear
2 Persikos au Laits
Vile Elixer and at least 1000 hp in potions.(On Monk I also used 3 Chakras @ 400hp)
At least 6 antidotes
Attack/HP food, (carbonara)
Icarus Wing, (optional)
Good Hunting ^^
