Indeed it will. Though you might need to look up how to get it working with whatever OS it has (as the game dates back to the windows XP era)

In fact, the vast majority of computers being sold second hand or given away these days should be able to run FFXI. Most charities wouldn't even accept computers that are too old to run Final Fantasy XI, especially now that Microsoft has stopped providing security updates for Windows XP.

Even old DOS era computers are getting harder to sell to people that aren't hardware collectors, as DOSBOX can run the vast majority of DOS games.

Short version, as long as it can connect to the internet, it should be fine. Though be careful, as I have read that some of these school issued computers have monitering software on them, which could put your account at risk. (also ignoring any usage restrictions that your school may have as part of the agreement for giving you the laptop)

I think it's really only the Intel 9xx graphics you have to watch out for. Those are really old now, like 5+ years old. I had an old Dell laptop with one, and the graphics driver would randomly crash any time from 5 minutes to 2 hours from starting to play.

The built-in graphics with Core-i CPUs should be fine.

should run one instance just fine. might have to turn off weather and shadows. one thing that i HIGHLY recommend is pop in a Samsung evo ssd. they aren't that expensive and the reason i recommend the Samsung is it comes with software that allows you to "ghost" your original hdd onto the new one before you put it in you just need a usb adapter. ssd will make a MASSIVE difference in the performance of the laptop. i put one in an old laptop of mine and it starts up fast and loads fast as hell now. there are cheaper ssd out there but i don't know if they come with software that eliminates the need to to a full install from restore disks

Might want to get your video drivers from Intel rather than relying on the default Windows ones.

Definitely get your video drivers from the manufacturer every time. I know there's the whole 'manufacturer specific' ********* but the drivers from Intel, nVidia, or AMD are 99% more often better than and more up to date, leading to performance enhancements.

It's in my opinion that almost anything can run FFXI nowadays.

Yeah it may not be the case with that particular chipset, but some of the Intel ones won't even display characters in game unless you have the official drivers from Intel.
