Those of you that have returned to the game after a long time away (I have been away about 8 yrs).

Are you restoring your old characters, or starting fresh with a new one.

I started a new account, and I've been enjoying the fresh start, but I'm one of those with pretty limited play time, and it'd be nice to be able to jump in around lvl50/60 with my old character. This is assuming that when I reactivate my old POL ID that my characters will still be there. I assume they will be?

The other part of me wants to just forget the past, and just keep rocking the new character.

Those of you that came back, which road did you go down?

I have been back in the game for 2 weeks, after being gone for 4 years. Honestly this game is vastly different from when it was then, and even moreso if you quit 8 years ago. In the 2 weeks ive been back ive gotten war, rdm, and sam to level 50, finished up to limit break 2, and am working on getting my main (drg) up to 99.

Leveling in this game has both improved and made the game better, but at the same time made the player base retarded and unaware of how to play their jobs.

You no longer need a party to level up, as exp gain has been increased. EP yield up to 150 exp. Fields and Grounds of Valor also allow you level insanely fast, even solo. Missions no longer have a level cap, so if you get high enough you can solo them. Basically, this game became more accessible to the casual gamer.

If you do decide to start fresh, jump on the Valefor server and look me up. Characters name is Darrt. Ill be happy to help you with what i can, and for what i cannot, i have fellow LS mates that are very helpful.

Thanks for the reply. Very encouraging to see how far you've managed to advance in such a short time. Definitely gives me incentive to stick with my new character. It's only been 2 days, but I am sort of attached already. I already started on Sylph, so I won't be able to look you up, but thanks for the offer. I've bumped into a few very helpful people already, and the experience has been pretty good. I just headed to Gusgen Mines at Lvl 15 last night, and will try to start partying tonight. Where do you go when you're ready to XP party at lvl 15?

you go to gusgen - where you are. You will level very fast so I wouldn't worry about reactivating - it will be a lot of headache and from the sounds of it you didn't really have anything much to bother about. Leveling is one of the least time intensive things in the game right now.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.
