Since VanaFest is going to be starting in little over an hour, I'm going to start this topic, which I want specifically for highlights and announcements from VanaFest for those unable to follow the Live Stream or Twitter feed. Feel free to add any details as they come up, since I'm only one person and it's easily possible for me to miss something as it's announced.

Heroine's Tower is a 6 person battle system without support jobs, seemingly in similar vein to the Hero's and Heroine's Combat battlefields released earlier. Unlike those though, it seems that you can perhaps choose which lamp, which coincides with a particular heroine, and it might be more of a Nyzul Isle-esque system where you fight up to the boss, which is the heroine.

Meh, I'd say Chemist and Geomancer are the only ones really "unique" enough left to get some mileage out of. Though, I can see SE pulling a curveball with Onion Knight and requiring all jobs at 99 to unlock and it leveling solely through merits or something.

No, the title screen shows it as one stand-alone entry and not a series of mini-expansions. Not to mention they specifically mentioned that this was the 5th expansion, so they're putting it as being in the same vein as Chains of Promathia and Rise of the Zilart rather than a set of mini-expansions. If you're going by the title screen that has the main title then three titles below it, that's just it translated into Japanese, French, and German.
It seems that there will also be new places to H.E.L.M. in Adoulin.

There was a splash screen that said it's their 5th disc expansion, so I'm guessing it's not a mini-expansion.

So we've got giant, behemoth-sized bees, mobs that look like FFVIII's Siren, a new beastmen-looking race, and a series of other insect and plantoid looking creatures as potential new monsters to fight.

Yeah, I pretty much missed the juicy stuff, too. Just gonna chill until it's youtube'd/official'd/whatever. We've got about 6 months to browse, heh.

Apparently Geomancer effects/spells cannot be resisted O.o I hope my Japanese is not failing me on this one. If I heard correctly, they will also have access to Elemental and Dark Magic - up to Tier IV for nukes and Drain, Stun and a D(?) skill. They are also thinking of adding new magic like blizzara, fira for the job. It is supposed to be a very technical job.

It'll have B- skill in Elemental if I recall correctly. It won't get the -ga but it will get the -ra versions. It has some Dark magic as well. The unique magic will be area of effect buffs based around the user or a point setup by them (I believe unique only to the main job). So if they set it up somewhere and someone moves out, they get a diminished effect of that ability. They'll have a unique item similar to PUPs, Bells that'll bring the full power out of their skills. Additionally, they'll have bonuses related to their cardinal positioning to the enemy. North is MAB up, West is Recast, etc.

Good! I like technical jobs. PUP has always been one of my favorite jobs in FFXI due to how technical it is (regarding maneuvers and knowing what maneuvers make your Automaton do) so I'm sure I'll thoroughly enjoy GEO.

The video was too brief to be able to see much of anything, I only was able to catch a glimpse of one silhouette that definitely looked like it had a sword and heavy armor. It almost looked like a PLD. I'm going to guess Mystic Knight, but that's just a guess.

The one thing about adding a new expansion with zones is that the zones need to get used and be useful. I am hoping that we can exp/merit in these new areas with exp/hr that meets or exceeds abyssea.
