Hey Gang,

I have an idea, and I've started to post in our cross-server channels, I've been reminding people to come check out ZAM - EQ and to remind them how useful it can be for information. You guys can take a crack at it too! It breaks my heart to come back and see only 1-2 posts a week, lets get some new people and some people to return!

One way would be to disable the Premium account requirement for features on the EQ site. Honestly, there are other sites out there now that give the same information for free.... Magelo is one of them (like Recipe information per item). So, there's not real reason to have a Premium account that I can see... at least, not from a user's perspective. And not being able to find the thing I'm looking for on here just drives me to use those other sites anyway, which has made me more and more disinterested in Zam overall.

I've actually forwarded user input about premium to the powers that be at Zam. I don't see any movement on that happening at this time.

I think some get value out of premium for whatever perks it gives that they like (full searches, recipes, no need for adblock, etc.).

I think many stay subbed out of loyalty to support the site.

I think it is important to distinguish between a database user and visible participation in the community. Some users never login in, but lurk and use the database (which is fine). Some logged in users post exclusively under items, quests etc. to provide info to the playerbase --they are the backbone of this site being useful. Some login and post mainly in the general forum --this is the traffic that actually makes the place feel more alive.

Obviously some people do a mix of all.

To the point of the OP though, I think the easiest way to get more people on the boards is to have conversations started that are interesting enough to compel a person to login (or even sign up for a login). Every registered user can help with that... just start an interesting thread in the general forum. If nobody replies (has happened to me lol) then I guess the topic wasn't as interesting as you hoped.

In my opinion, what probably hurt more than anything is the lack of information regarding the TBM expansion. People ventured to other websites and to be honest, the other sites are not anything to brag about in regards to the information they provide on TBM. The dwindling numbers will correct itself once a complete and comprehensive guide is drafted up on TBM which I am going to help do since I have completed all that content. You will be amazed of how many people have not even touched TBM to this day because they simply don't know what to do! Once the guide is finished, we can prepare for the upcoming expansion and I am confident it will improve your overall traffic and membership.

The official boards have really slowed down in the last 6 months as well.

Summer lull is a part. (Quarm event has kept some interested, but there isn't a lot to post and talk about for the event as there is nothing new/unknown about it really).

O board has been more strictly monitored and guild/server drama threads (mostly on TLP area) are getting nuked fast --so this would make it seem less busy too.

As far as Allakhazam general forum goes... many of our usual suspects (500+ post types that posted in forums not just under items, quests, etc.) have been pretty quiet in the last year. In private message to a few of them it is simply that they haven't been playing at all. That's a topic for a different thread

How about fix bugs like dis!?

Go to the Wiki Search, type in "druid" and select Everquest.

It returns:

An unknown error has occurred.

You're not going to get people visiting this site if this stuff keeps happening!

Maybe your dwindling numbers are related to the long load times, ads blocking half your screen , and most important typing in the search bar results in garbled words because of lag produces by the ads plaguing this site? Andwhen you bring up these concerns to mods , they blow you off and say it must be your equipment.

Dwindling Numbers - How to get more people on our boards!

Back on the rails! Just out of curiosity I looked into the really "heavily" trafficked boards here, which are the non-EQ general topics forums. WOW! Lotsa action but, man, very insular and cliquish, loaded with inside jokes that would take an outsider two weeks of reading old posts to get. And some of those posters are clearly trying to TILT like Jophiel, what with making 3 or 4 posts in a row, each containing one sentence making up one complete thought in total.

As my Uncle Dexter used to warn me in his very own words: Watch out what you wish for cuz you might get it!
