Today, I finally got my last drops of decayed armor in The Feerrott for my 52 SK to get his Sol Ro armour to begin his Epic. I first headed to West Freeport to hunt guards to get their helms, but they resisted every spell I tried and they took almost no damage at all from melee. I brought in my 72 Necro with exactly the same results. I burnt a full bar of mana (all resisted), pet died and again almost no melee hits. Very weird.......

I had to go inside the city to get guards that could be killed
Thanks, I'll give that a try. I must confess, this is my first go at killing guards at any city.
EDIT: Got my helms and finished all the Darkforge armor pieces with the exception of one bracer. Thank you again!

If im not mistaken all gate guards are really meant to be near unkillable. I think they are 100% resistant to all spells and have super high hit point regen.

Yeah. People complained way back when that people were killing the guards in their newbie zones. Easier targets are in EFP. Assuming those are militia helms that are needed (no clue about SK stuff). There's a number of groups of guards that roam around that aren't tied to the gates. They're pretty easy to kill. Er, punish righteously.
