This is OmegaMan0302. I used to play EQ couple years ago with my ex stepfather. I really miss the game. I have heard of 3 new servers that you can play on. However since they are so new, I do not want to get jipped when it comes to game content, drops, and etc. I used to play on I believe it was called xegony. However, since I want to start over, I will be making a new character. Can anyone tell me what server would be the best to start fresh and hopefully have people doing the same so I can make a group?? Any suggestions would be grealy appreciated and info as to what character to go with would be awesome.
I want to be able to use spells but still beat the mobs. I want good armor and something where the groups wants me!

There are 3 progression servers running they are basically servers with only a handful of expansions unlocked. I know phinigal is still classic only I think ragefire/lockjaw are on Kunark now? You have to subscribe to play on these servers. I would recommend phinigal if your starting from scratch as Ragefire and Lockjaw your going to get pushed out of your camps by multiboxers (least that is what turned me away from them). Phinigal supposed to have automated banning of people who try to box multiple toons.
If you roll on a regular server good luck getting a group at low lvls. Most players are max level or close to it. The ones that are not are generally being carryed by a boxed max level or close to it.
Good news is you probably won't need one for a long time depending what class you roll. You can now level from 1 to 50 in literally about a day. LEveling is super fast in this range. Also you get a mercenary which is an AI controlled group member. They can heal, caster dps, melee dps, or tank for you depending which one you hire. If your Free To play you can only use an app5 which is fine until about 50+. After 50 you will probably want a journeymen merc otherwise they will die alot.
If you roll an enchanter on a progression server you will never have a problem getting a group. Same can be said about a cleric as well.

It opens on March 2nd, less than a week away.
If you are going to pay for an all-access sub and want people to group with as you level then Phinigel progression server is probably your best bet. As a returning player this would have the smallest learning curve --especially since it is just about to enter Kunark when a pile of people will be leveling brand new Iksars.
If progression doesn't appeal, you can free to play on the regular live servers. Paid sub gives some benefits. You'll have a lot more to learn with item/stat/ability/content bloat, but you'll have a lot of generous things (like hotzone experience, mercenaries, etc.) that make catching up to the population easier. You'll likely be soloing a lot under level 85 though... but joining an active population casual guild can really help with this.

Kunark's opening was a real blast in the day. I wonder if wolf form will be KOS in FV? I can still remember my first sea voyage to the outpost in FV as a dorf warrior and finding dead wolves on the dock and realizing that they were player corpses!
