Some user input on this slayer achievement would provide some clarification:

1. It seems like you can do this task anywhere? (Some posters are assuming they have to do it in Dulak)

2. If you can do it anywhere, people are concerned with factions. So this begs the question: "Where's the best place to kill ____________(insert a race off the kill list) for the smallest faction hits, or at least faction hits of little importance?" ---note that "importance" will vary depending on race/class/deity combo so some different options in some cases will be good.

3. Other players won't care about the factions at all, and will just want the closest cluster of zones to get the needed kills in (pretty sure this is why Dulak keeps coming up in the thread... no important factions, low level and lots of NPC races to pile up the kill count). If that's your mindset where would you go hunting?

4. Is there a req level (our database says 100 but at least one person reports doing it earlier). our wiki says achievement system came with Underfoot so is that the expansion pre-req for this (not the era flagged for when this particular one was introduced into the game) ?

Bonus: if you haven't done the achievement, you'll earn the cheeky title of "ambassador" for your efforts.

For your barbarian quota, Shelga in Crescent Reach is an easy kill with no faction hits.

Aye that is a very good one, considering its for a newbie level Drakkin quest.

What I'll do (assuming this thread gets responses) is summarize this discussion into one useful post under the actual quest.

Dulak is going to be good for Gnomes, Iksar, Erudites, Humans, Trolls, Ogres, Dark Elves... any others?

Guktans it sounds like the Fragment guys are some people's favourites.

Sister's of Erollisi the best bet for wood elves? (not a great faction hit for some). --This is off the top of my head with no time to research atm.

You can't do much research with DBG's current login issues anyway. Smiley: banghead

For wood elves, you can kill bandits in Greater Faydark. It lowers Fizzlethorpe faction, but that has no actual effect on gameplay.

Besides, it's time Bristlebane got a taste of his own medicine.

It turns out that the Greater Faydark bandits are split between Wood Elves and Half-Elves, so you can kill two elves with one stone, so to speak.

Also, if you spy the Second Fragment of Igok while you're killing them, you can notch a Guktan as well.

For Halflings I found Plane of Mischief a good place.

In Butcherblock off the path from four corners (near Druid port in) to the Greater Fey zone lies a dwarven bandit camp, good for the kill count and collecting Dwarven Blood that was important in years past.

For High Elf, Joren Nobleheart in South Felwithe gives no faction hits. Paladins and Shadow Knights can also get their Ghoulbane for their epics without doing the quest.

I always wonder how to square such achievements with game lore. I mean, sure, ogres and trolls keep Halfling and elf corpses hanging on spits over open fires, but they're evil races. How do we rationalize a Halfling acquiring an achievement reward which necessitates slaughtering elves and dwarves?

Good old-fashioned Bristlebane mischief?

You make a great point.

Perhaps this thread can allow us to put together a sorted list:

1. Most expedient kills regardless of faction (low level, ease of access, common spawn, and close proximity as factors)
2. Most "good" way to do the achievement (preferred to be NPC in game that are evil/traitors to lore, best if faction hits match the concept)
3. Most "evil" way to do the achievement (similar to #2)

I think that, technically, killing Shelga in Crescent Reach (Barbarian) ought to be the "evil" way to do it, although that quest can be done by everyone, regardless of race, class, or religion. Still, it is pretty clearly an "evil" quest.

Rather hypocritical of me since in the olden days I gained many a level quad-kiting dorf guards with my Halfling druid. When my faction in BB dropped to what I thought was very low dubious (on the cusp of KOS) I hired a dark elf shadowknight to slaughter orcs in GFay and Crushbone and paid him 1pp per Crushbone belt so I could raise my faction by doing the related quest inside Kaladim.

Then one day I was chastised my a noble elfin ranger who informed me that it was dishonorable to gain experience off dwarf guards, thereby denying their protection to the young adventurers hunting outside the gates of Kaladim. This chastisement cut me to the quick! Henceforth I stopped hunting my dorf armored "friends"---or that is I stopped as soon as they started conning green and the experience earned became unadvantageous. Smiley: eek

I do like the Bristlebane excuse/rationalization since, indeed, us halflings are mischievous little creatures, even if actual KILLING of dorfs does go beyond mischievousness, to some extent, eh? Smiley: jester

I did most of my kills in the arena area in sanctus seru. All of the old school races can be killed there and there are quite a few so almost non-stop killing.

Rungupp in Toxxulia Forest is an isolated low-level troll.

Here's where we appear to be at with this:

- Barbarians: Shelga (Crescent Reach); Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Dark Elves: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Drakkin: Vergalid Mines ?
- Dwarves: Bandits (Butcherblock)
- Erudites: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Gnomes: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Guktans: First Fragment of Igok (Nektulos) & Second Fragment of Igok (Greater Faydark) both give good faction hits with Guktan factions)
- Half Elves: Bandits (Greater Faydark on unimportant faction); Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Halflings: Plane of Mischief; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- High Elves: Joren Nobleheart (South Felwithe, no faction hits); Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Humans: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Iksars: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Ogres: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena;
- Trolls: Dulak’s Harbor; Sanctus Seru in Arena; Rungupp (Toxxulia Forest);
- Vah Shir:
- Wood Elves: Bandits (Greater Faydark on unimportant faction); Sanctus Seru in Arena;

Plane of Justice any good? Any other planes? (Low level for most players nowadays, and pretty much if not all factionless NPCs).
Where to get Drakkin and Vah Shir NPC?

gbaji noted: Something to note is that you can pick up a number of these which might otherwise by problematic faction wise, by doing various HAs. They tend to have different sets of NPCs who are racially diverse, but don't carry any of the normal EQ factions. I'm particularly thinking of those silly dwarves riding giant pigs. That's just... wrong. You can and will pick up most of the normal EQ races along the way of doing enough HAs.

For Drakkin, I think Vergalid Mines is the place to go. I think there are no faction hits but this needs to be verified.
